Brokerage: Is There Still a Market?

In light of today’s coronavirus epidemic, is there still a brokerage market? This is the topic of discussion yachting expert Hein Velema put towards an expert panel of key industry players, who debated the status of the market, pending brokerage deals and how best to react, and survive, the current worldwide crisis.

The panel consisted of managing partner of IYV Michel Chryssicopoulos, CEO of Northrop & Johnson Kevin Merrigan, Fraser’s yacht broker Josh Gulbranson and founder of Cecil Wright & Partners, Chris Cecil-Wright, who collectively discussed the status of current sales deals and how the lack of charter bookings could have an influence on the brokerage market as in usual circumstance, owners oftan plan to offset around 50% of their costs through charter, meaning they may look to sell instead.
