Meet the Team

Sam Watson: CEO & Editor
Graduating in psychology, Sam has over 30 years experience in sales and marketing across a range of sectors and speaks fluent French. After working for a pioneering online charter brokerage, in 2013 Sam applied her marketing skills to the creation of OnboardOnline.com, a digital publication providing content marketing services for the superyacht industry.

Naomi Chadderton: Managing Editor
With over 10 years’ experience as a luxury lifestyle journalist, Naomi started her career in Dubai where she worked across a number of women’s online and print publications. In 2017 she dipped her toes into the PR world working with a range of luxury lifestyle brands. Naomi now manages our content schedule and assists with client campaigns.

Hannah McCrory - Digital Content & Social Media
After graduating with a degree in International Business from the University of Portsmouth, Hannah began her marketing career within the marine industry. She then went on to work in events marketing, promoting conferences and trade shows worldwide for luxury hospitality and wellness brands. Here at OnboardOnline, Hannah works behind the scenes planning content and managing our social media channels.

Karen Hockney: Contributing Editor
Karen is an experienced author and journalist writing for UK national newspapers and magazines, including The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Daily Mail, You Magazine and Hello. Based on the Cote d’Azur, Karen is a longstanding contributor to OnboardOnline covering travel, destinations, health and wellbeing, as well as conducting interviews with industry players and leaders at the forefront of ocean conservation.

Sarah grew up in Tennessee and studied in Boston and Paris before working as a contributing editor for a New York magazine. Moving to Antibes in 2008, she spent eight years working as a Crew Agent getting to know the yachting industry and its crew inside out. Also fluent in French, Sarah is managing editor and a regular writer for OnboardOnline, a happy place where her previous worlds come together.

Rebecca Whitlocke: Contributor
Rebecca is a freelance writer based on the French Riviera, specialized in bringing destinations to life with a luxury twist. Born in New Zealand, she is a regular contributor to OnboardOnline covering a range of topics from cruising grounds and sustainability to international boat shows and industry events. Rebecca is also an expert on social media and a regular author on LinkedIn.

Captain Rod Hatch: Contributor
With over 45 years experience in commercial shipping and yachting, Rod is an ILO certified Trainer of MLC Inspectors, an MCA approved Maritime Auditor and Lead Auditor, ISM and ISO, and also provides training on the implementation of MLC 2006. Rod is a regular contributor to OnboardOnline and our encyclopedia on everything from captaincy to international laws of the sea.

Commander Sean O'Reilly: Contributor
Sean spent 28 years in the Royal Navy. He commanded two warships, taught navigation, ship-handling and leadership at Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, before commanding the naval contingent in the UK MoD Saudi Arabia Project. He then commanded the UK inter-agency Maritime Counter-Narcotics contingent in the Caribbean. A Master's graduate in International Affairs, he left the Navy in 2006 to lecture International Law of the Sea to naval undergraduates in Abu Dhabi. Sean now teaches UK MCA accredited courses in the captaincy of commercial yachts up to 3000gt.
