United Yacht Sales Has Been Sold

United Yacht Sales, the world’s largest professional yacht brokerage firm with more than 175 yacht brokers worldwide, began in 2002 with a vision by founder Peter Schmidt to change the yacht brokerage industry. By treating each broker as a client, investing in a strong support team, and offering the most competitive commission split anywhere, Peter has grown United to new heights.

At age 75 and still in the office every day, Peter recognized the importance of having a secession plan that did not jeopardize the culture that’s been developed among the team. That’s why after 19 years, Peter has sold the majority portion of the company to Brian Boettler and professional yacht broker Captain Jeff Palmer. What started as a company based on family values will continue that refreshing commitment moving forward.

“I am very proud of what we have all built,” said Peter Schmidt. “My number one stipulation for selling the company was that whoever bought it would not change the principles it was founded upon. I’m very confident that Brian and Jeff, along with our fantastic team, will continue to even greater achievements.”

Brian Boettler,  will assume the role of United CEO. Jeff Palmer, a well-respected, 30+ year captain and yacht broker, will become Vice President and focus on broker development and recruitment. Peter will continue with United as President and will be very active with the company on a daily basis to ensure a smooth transition.

“I am ecstatic to assume the role of CEO of United,” said Brian. “As a client of United and Jeff’s for many years, I see an incredible opportunity for growth. We’re going to immediately start working on furthering our support of our brokers and our clients. It’s going to be an exciting time to be a United Yacht broker.”

United has seen incredible sales throughout 2020 including a 114% increase in the 3rd quarter and the 4th quarter trending in the same direction.
