Marine Relations Campaign in Southeast Asia

The Governor of Phuket, Norraphat Plodthong, recently welcomed the Indonesian Tourism Minister Arief Yahya to discuss collaboration in the development of marine tourism in the region which will benefit superyachts visiting both nations.   

“Indonesia has just revealed their plans to run a special campaign between 8 November 5 December that will assist tourists in travelling between Phuket and Sabang, Indonesia. We also aim to enhance and strengthen cultural relations.” said Governor Norraphat.

The Governor also revealed that a Memorandum of Understanding is in the works to include Malaysia in this initiative, as per the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Agreement.

Gordon Fernandes of Asia Pacific Superyachts Phuket said,

“This discussion should be of benefit to those vessels cruising between Phuket and Sabang, Indonesia and we welcome the government’s further efforts to extend the reach to Malaysia - three established hubs where APS is in place and ready to support the effort."
