IAMI GUEST Launch New Accredited Purser Program

Over the past 10 years, the yachting sector has seen a significant growth in the numbers of yachts over 70m, increasing the need for onboard yacht pursers and the demand for accredited purser training.

The IAMI GUEST approved training provider, The Crew Academy, set the benchmark for purser training over a decade ago, followed more recently by The Purser Trainer and The Yacht Purser. The IAMI Maritime Hospitality Sub Group has now come together with these three training providers, combining decades of purser management and teaching expertise in the superyacht sector, to create a fully accredited IAMI GUEST Purser Program.

Each establishment will provide a personal and caring teaching environment using IAMI accepted tuition mediums, to ensure learning outcomes are met and satisfy the investment made by students.

The demanding and complex purser role requires proficiency in all aspects of vessel and crew administration and logistics, as well as excellent knowledge of maritime law, charter and destination management, accounting and VAT laws. The IAMI GUEST Purser Program includes a comprehensive framework of tuition where individuals learn these vital skills and gain the in-depth knowledge required to fulfil the role of with confidence.

Upon successful completion of the IAMI GUEST Purser Program, students will attain IAMI GUEST Purser Certification. Those who also complete an advanced leadership qualification along with the required maritime service, will be eligible to apply for the IAMI Purser CoC.

IAMI monitors and maintains standards of tuition and assessment in the maritime sector for the GUEST Program for interior hospitality training and the UK MCA Deck and Engineering qualifications..
