DSNM Launches Online Bridge Refresher Course

With the current guidelines on social distancing around the globe and schedules on hold for many superyachts, David Store Navigational Management has adapted one of its training courses with Captain George Mills so it can be completed via video conferencing.

The two-three hour Bridge Refresher Course is ideal for crew to keep up to date or refresh their knowledge whilst on board and staying safe in isolation, with no need for an external person to come on board.

George will interact with the crew in advance as well as during the course to ensure that it is tailored to the specific crew requirements with an opportunity at the end to discuss the course outcomes and ask questions.

Sessions run on Skype or Zoom using the screen sharing facility, connecting to a laptop or large screen (e.g. crew mess TV or on the bridge) with a maximum of six deck crew.

Timings are flexible, but as a guide: Examples of ECDIS display errors and anomalies (30 minutes); Case studies of ECDIS-related grounding incidents (90 minutes) followed by Bridge Team Management or practical revision of COLREGS and/or Buoyage.

The session finishes with the opportunity to ask questions.
