Bluewater is proud to announce that it is the first yachting company to be accepted into the UK Chamber of Shipping in London.
The UK Chamber of Shipping is the trade association and voice for the UK shipping industry, with around 150 members from across the maritime sector. The membership includes both ship owners and operators from the UK and around the world.
The UK Chamber of Shipping is extremely well respected and works closely with the highest levels of governement, parliament and policy makers.
Bluewater was motivated to apply for membership to ensure that superyachts have a voice within the global maritime industry. This industry brings in over £14bn to the UK economy alone and year on year superyachting is playing a larger role in this.
The importance of communication and collaboration between the different maritime sectors has always been evident, however now is the time to make this happen. Hopefully, from 2015 onwards we can all work together to ensure stable and competitive development.
John Wyborn, Director of bluewater, “The superyacht industry was taken by surprise by the Maritime Labour Convention and we are determined that this will not happen again. Membership of the Chamber gives us the ability to scan the horizon for future legislation and to be proactive for the direct benefit of our industry.”
Guy Platern, the CEO of the UK Chamber of Shipping has responded directly to our membership acceptance, ”I am delighted to welcome bluewater into the UK Chamber of Shipping family.”
“The shipping industry is constantly evolving and changing. The rise of yachting has been extraordinary and is already making a vital contribution to the UK economy. Bluewater have been spearheading the emergence of the sector, and we are very much looking forward to working with them to tackle the issues that they face, and raise awareness and understanding at all levels of government, and across the country as a whole.”
