Australia’s The Boat Works is Finally Superyacht Ready

Australia’s The Boat Works is finally ready to welcome superyachts, adding Gold Anchor accreditation and Superyacht Ready status to its credentials, passing both with flying colours and achieving the milestone in the dedicated superyacht yard.

Suzanne Davies MIA CEO said The Boat Works attaining Superyacht Ready accreditation was a well-earned milestone for the yard.

“The Boat Works has been an industry leader in the services and facilities it provides to superyachts and it’s great to see the marina join the Gold Anchor and Superyacht Ready program,” she stated.

“The Boat Works successfully satisfied the program’s assessment standards with strict criteria based around the suitability of the marina’s infrastructure to accommodate superyachts, accessibility for superyachts, security measures and service availability. As the latest Gold Anchor and Superyacht Ready accredited marina, they will be high on the list of destinations for superyacht captains to consider.”

The Gold Anchor and Superyacht Ready certification formalises what visiting owners and superyacht captains already know – The Boat Works is the region’s premier facility for vessels of all sizes, makes and models. Providing a comprehensive choice of skilled marine professionals teamed with superior marine infrastructure and facilities, defining The Boat Works as a prime location for superyacht activity.

The most recent visitor to The Boat Works, 44-metre Sanlorenzo, AIX chose the yard for its pre-season cruising service and maintenance. The impressive superyacht arrived in Australia in November 2022 and will soon join the Australian charter fleet as one of the largest and newest long-range cruising motor yachts.

“Lifting AIX is testament to our reputation catering to superyachts across the facility with marina, hardstand and within the multiple Super and Mega Sheds which were purpose-built at 20m in height,” explains Shane Subichin, Marina Manager.

“This superyacht’s requirements were very specific and our team worked around the clock to ensure we met their schedule and expectations.”

At the helm of AIX is Captain Danny Leonard. Over his 25-year career in superyachting, Danny has skippered superyachts of the size of AIX and larger in Europe, South America, the Caribbean and the US East Coast.

“I have visited multiple yards and this is clearly a standout, worldclass facility,” he states.

Having been to numerous superyacht yards around the world, I can say The Boat Works Shipyard and Marina is by far the best I have ever experienced. The leadership from the very top and right throughout with all involved including all contractors, has been second to none.

No job for them has been too big nor too small, with absolute attention to detail to what has been requested. We reduced our dry dock period from two weeks to four days due to unexpected circumstances and they moved heaven and earth to get the work done, with outstanding results. I would not hesitate to recommend The Boat Works to other owners and Captains in this region.”

Mauro Rosi at Superyachts Consulting, which works with the Sanlorenzo factory, was equally effusive in his praise.

“I would like to thank you on behalf of Sanlorenzo Yacht company and myself for the professionalism with which your team has taken care of AIX. My hope is to bring more yachts to The Boat Works and continue the collaboration well into the future.”

The Boat Works is world recognised as a major superyacht hub in the Asia-Pacific region preparing now for the next phase of development investing in additional major marine infrastructure.
