2017 Supeyacht Scholarship Winners Announced

The Crew Coach is delighted to announce the winners of the 2017 Superyacht Scholarship, a global competition offering four winners an extraordinary head-start in their luxury yachting career.

Each scholarship prize package is worth over €3,200, with additional jackpot prizes worth up to €1200.

Prizes include training courses, yachting uniforms, accommodation, CV help and career coaching, a personal mentor and crew agency red carpet treatment, this is an outstanding opportunity for those wanting to break into a career in yachting.

Alison Rentoul, founder of The Crew Coach and The Superyacht Scholarship, said, “I’m very proud to have been able to bring together all the key players in the industry to collaborate on this project for a 2nd year and to give four deserving winners the best possible chance of a great start in an industry that could truly change their life for the better.

Not everyone can afford the high cost of entry into this life-changing career, and we want to make it possible for those who might not otherwise be able to afford it. This is part of The Crew Coach’s commitment to give back to the industry that has given us so much.”

The winners were selected from a pool of applicants from all over the world, by a panel of judges including the program’s mentors and crew agents as well as The Crew Coach founder Alison Rentoul. The winning names were announced via a LIVE webinar on the 15th of Feburary, during which numerous spot prizes were also given away. Training Prizes

Each winner will receive an entry-level training course relevant to their department, from a respected training provider, worth around €1000 euro.

  • Interior: Luxury Hospitality Group are providing a GUEST-approved, 5-day intense introduction to yachting course, Value: €1,075.

  • Chef: Secrets de Cuisine training school in Antibes is offering a fantastic head-start training course, of an HABC level 3 food hygiene certificate, food photo shoot and photobook. Value: €1,050. In addition to this, Amandine Cuisine are providing our chef winner with a beautiful hand crafted Japanese knife valued at €150.

  • Exterior: Zephyr Yachting are providing a bundle of fantastic entry-level deck courses: Personal Watercraft Course, VHF license and Powerboat Level 2. Value: €1100. In addition to this Quay Crew are providing our deckhand with a Go Pro camera valued at €150.

  • Engineer: Bluewater are providing a 5-day 5 day Approved Engineering Certificate course  Value: €1050.

Assistance and Mentoring Prizes:

  • The Crew Coach, founder of the Superyacht Scholarship, will be aiding the winners with one year of access to their Crew Career Mastermind program, giving them a private members only Facebook group, fortnightly group coaching sessions, online courses and training and a professional CV Turnaround package. Value: €2,897.

  • The winners will be looked after personally by a dedicated crew agent who will give them a ‘red carpet’ service in helping them find work. The dedicated crew agents for each department winner are: Chef winner: Amandine Cuisine; Interior: Camper & Nicholsons International crew placement; Exterior: Quay Crew; Engineering: YPI Crew.

  • Each winner will also be paired up with their own personal yachting industry mentor, a senior crew member who will help guide them through their first year of yachting with advice, contacts and a wealth of insider experience.

Each scholarship winner also receives:

  • A week’s accommodation in an Antibes Crew House: The Glamorgan, Debbie’s Crew House, Amma’s Crew House or The Grapevine, valued at up to €225

  • Professional Yachting Association Membership & MCA approved Service Record Book. Value €175

  • A specialist yachting friendly offshore Bank account and Financial Planning from Horizons Financial Solutions for Yacht Crew. Value: €200+

  • Professional CV Photo Shoot with Naneen Photography. Value: €80

  • Yachting-appropriate clothes donated by Decker’s Uniform for dockwalking and interviews. Shorts/Skorts and Polo shirt. Value: €60

  • A bottle of Laurent Perrier champagne from Offshore Cellars. Value: €30

In addition to all of the above, the following prizes were also drawn at random for the winners on the live winners announcement webinar:

  • Ryan Katona: Warsash Maritime Academy UK: 5 day STCW 95 basic safety training course: Value: € 1,200

  • Euan Dodd: One pair of designer sunglasses from Crew Eyewear, Value up to €200

  • Nikkita van der Woort: Roaming Expert 2-month European Mobile Roaming contract with data, texts and calls for both UK and Europe (over 40 countries) Value: €580
