On Thursday 7th March, Sarnia Yachts is hosting a pre-season briefing for captains, crew and industry professionals in the south of France, an opportunity to learn about industry changes affecting the forthcoming yachting season.

Attendees will be able to ask questions through an interactive app (Slido) and will also be introduced to Sarnia’s new crew handbook, an essential resource for crew employment matters.

The event has a packed programme and will cover:

  • Crew social security

  • EU VAT pitfalls

  • EU changes to charter requirements

  • Yacht arrest / detention

Industry veteran Dan Armsden will be on hand to introduce Sarnia's new crew handbook and to answer questions about crew social security. VAT expert Bruce Maltwood and corporate specialist Steven Marquis will present the complexities surrounding charters in the EU and how to avoid potential VAT pitfalls.

The briefing will close with a panel discussion on yacht arrests and detentions, with expert advice from an experienced superyacht captain, a surveyor and a lawyer specialising in vessel arrests.

Throughout the event we will be using Slido, an interactive app allowing the audience to ask anonymous questions and participate in polls created by the host.

There will be post-event drinks at the venue giving an opportunity to meet with the Sarnia Yachts team, the guest speakers and to network with other attendees.

Attending the event from Sarnia Yachts will be Bruce Maltwood (VAT, New Business), Dan Armsden (Yacht & Crew Technical), Steven Marquis (Corporate, VAT), Natasha Postnikova (Crew Management) plus another relationship manager from the corporate team.

Date: Thursday 7 March
Venue: AC Hotel Ambassadeur, Juan Les Pins
Time: 14.00h to 18.00h
