Yacht Crews Called to March in the Balearics.
There will be a march on Saturday afternoon in Palma to show public objection to the proposed oil exploitation and seismic testing in the Balearics.
Brad Robertson from Associacion Ondine is calling for the Palma yachting community to get involved.
“This is a great opportunity for the local community to voice their opinion and also for all of us to show Mallorca that we actually care. If you would like to join us and have Asociacion Ondine t-shirts please wear them, if you don’t or you would prefer to wear your work t-shirt to show that business’ or yacht’s objection to the projects, then please wear them.”
For those on their boats this Saturday, Association Ondine asks that the yachts blow their horns at 17:00 and again at 17:30.
Robertson says, “If you are on a yacht based in Palma and have the ability to make some noise on Saturday whilst the protest march is on, we ask you make as much noise as possible! BLOW YOUR HORNS! The march starts in Santa Catalina and heads towards the Cathedral, if your vessel is anywhere near there and you have a crew member on watch, please let them know.”
According to the Diario de Mallorca, 30 000 signatures have already been gathered and ‘citizen mobilization against oil exploration is paying off.”
Protest March Details:
Saturday 22nd (THIS SATURDAY). It will start in Plaza de Sa Feixina (the one between Santa Catalina and the river mouth), and will head to Parc de la Mar.
Start time is 17:00; Associacion Ondine will be meeting participants in Havanna Bar in Santa Catalina at 16:30.
