Sunreef Yachts Introduces its First Carbon Sailing Yacht

Sunreef

Sunreef Yachts - the inventor of the luxury catamaran concept and currently the world leader in design and construction of custom made luxury catamarans above 60 feet continues moving forward in the field of super yacht design. The shipyard has just introduced the first unit of Sunreef 80 Carbon Line based on light displacement, performance and speed. During this year’s edition of prestigious Festival de la Plaisance in Cannes the yacht will have its world premiere.

Commissioned by a European owner, the Sunreef 80 LEVANTE is made of an advanced composite sandwich combining vinylester, PVC foam and carbon/glass fiber, with a carbon mast and boom in-house made, standing rigging with Kevlar and total sail area of 340 m², weighing just 45T lightship. The sleek and sporty exterior line was designed carefully to reduce windage and water resistance.

The yacht is meant for fast sailing and can easily reach 15 knots with maximum speeds on sails set for 20+ knots. The Main sail and Genoa are made of Vectran while the Gennaker is made of Cuben Fiber. Sunreef 80 LEVANTE keeps her balance no matter the wind conditions. She is also very easy to maneuver and the steering is very comfortable. Moreover, this yacht is equipped with a system which enables testing the load on the rig when under sail. 12 load pins have been installed on the mast, rigging and winches, so that the skipper is able to check the load and adjust sails accordingly pushing the boat to the safe maximum at all times. Additionally, the black box which registers this data and allows Sunreef Yachts to have access to it is installed on the catamaran. These solutions will allow the shipyard to monitor the speeds of the boat at all times and progress with research on powerful rigs for its future yachts.

Sunreef 80 LEVANTE was designed to sail with the whole family, with smaller crew on board. For the very first time on a Sunreef single deck catamaran, the owner suite is located on the main deck. This means that the internal cockpit comprises the navigation station, dining area, lounge zone and the owner suite on the front right. As is the case for all Sunreef catamarans, the cockpit and flybridge features dining areas, sunbathing pads and extended storage for wide range of water toys.

Sporting a spacious layout and performance cruising, Sunreef 80 LEVANTE is also a great charter option for families. To check her availability, destinations and to book a luxury charter aboard please contact Sunreef Yachts Charter.
