DIAGEO RESERVE has teamed up with Shore Solutions and is holding the inaugural WORLD CLASS™ Yachting Cocktail Competition at Antigua Yacht Show 2014.

WORLD CLASS™ Yachting Cocktail Competition is a prestigious and respected mixology competition; a global event that sees the best bartenders from up to 50 countries competing against each other to find the best bartender and bring to light the mixology talent from around the globe. This year, for the first ever time, Diageo has partnered with Shore Solutions to highlight the fine drinking culture of the luxury yachting industry.

The competition is open to anyone at the Antigua show who wants to participate and show off their skills and techniques in cocktail making. Bartenders from 30 yachts will compete for a place in the 2015 World Class™ finals, which will be held in Cape Town next year, and compete against over 50 of the world’s most talented bartenders to be named World Class Global Bartender of the Year!

“This is a unique competition that brings together two popular luxury lifestyles,” says Matteo Fantacchiotti, Global Vice President Commercial for Diageo Reserve. “Combining the sophistication of yachting and the refined art of cocktail making, the competition will play host to unparalleled creativity and craftsmanship.”

Shore Solutions is honoured to be a part of this incredibly exciting endeavour, having trained countless crews over the last ten years. “Luxury yachts require seven star service and the skills of the interior crew often go unrecognised outside the industry,” says Andrew Roch, Managing Director of Shore Solutions. “We have been training crew in the art of mixology for over ten years, with the aim of impressing an increasingly discerning cocktail drinker. This competition provides the opportunity for the most talented bartenders in the yachting world to showcase their skills; it will be fascinating to see how they fare with the challenges.”

During the week, a series of workshops will be hosted by Diageo trainers as well as this year’s winner of the World Class Bartender 2014, Charles Joly. The seminars will be an aid to helping all contenders the chance to hone their skills and prepare for the competition. The heats will take place on the Tuesday and Wednesday, and then the final to take place on Thursday.

The bartender who will be crowned winner of the competition will also secure a place in the 2015 WORLD CLASS™ finals, to be held in South Africa, where they will complete a series of innovative challenges and enter the running for the title WORLD CLASS Global Bartender of the Year.

Registrations are open until the 5th December, for further information and to register email
