A new international marine-industry conference called Boatbuilding Live! (boatbuildinglive.com) will debut in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on 17 November 2014.

Boatbuilding Live! is a daylong series of seminars on the current topics most relevant to professionals working in the fields of boat design, construction, repair, survey, and systems. Featuring seasoned speakers with extensive experience, Boatbuilding Live! will begin a global conversation about the ongoing developments and ideas in today's boat construction and refit industry.

Registration for Boatbuilding Live! is now open online at boatbuildinglive.com. Discounts are available for industry professionals who register by 31 October 2014. Registrants select a total of four seminars throughout the day from a dozen topics in four tracks: Composites & Metal, Design & Engineering, Marine Systems, and Repair & Survey. Networking opportunities are available several times throughout the day, and the guest speakers are available to discuss their ideas during these informal gatherings.

"My partners and I chose to hold the premiere Boatbuilding Live! conference in Amsterdam on the day before METS opens since that event draws so many talented boatbuilding professionals to the region," said Carl Cramer, former publisher of Professional BoatBuilder magazine and now a producer of Boatbuilding Live! "While it's critical for boatbuilding professionals to attend exhibitions and see new products, my partners and I are hoping to keep a conversation going about how to best use those new products and technologies. Boatbuilding Live! opens up that conversation."

Boatbuilding Live! will be held at the Westergasfabriek in downtown Amsterdam near Central Station. There is a limited capacity in the facility, so online conference registration will remain open until the capacity is reached. Following the premiere event, the producers of Boatbuilding Live! intend to bring the one-day education format to other regions around the world starting in 2015.

The current list of speakers at Boatbuilding Live! includes: Hanneke Boon (principle, James Wharram Designs), Nigel Calder (author and expert on boat engines and systems), Lorne Campbell (principle, Lorne Campbell Designs), Steve D'Antonio (director, Steve D'Antonio Marine Consulting), Nick Danese (founder & general manager, Nick Danese Applied Research), Jack Ross Gifford (naval architect, G.L. Watson & Co. Ltd.), Nigel Irens (yacht designer, Nigel Irens Design), Scott Lewit (president, Structural Composites Inc.), Roby Scalvini (principle surveyor at Marine Survey Bureau), JB Turner (president, Front Street Shipyard), James Wharram (principle, James Wharram Designs).
