Singapore Yacht Show 2014 Asia's Biggest

Asia's biggest-ever display of boats and superyachts at the Singapore Yacht Show 2014

The Singapore Yacht Show continues to attract world-leading superyacht and boat brands, consolidating its position as the region’s principal consumer-facing industry event.

The Singapore Yacht Show (SYS) returns once again to ONE°15 Marina Club in Sentosa Cove for its fourth edition in April, promising its strongest-ever on-water display of small boats and luxury vessels from across the whole boating spectrum.

Headlined by the breathtaking S/Y Vertigo, one of the most celebrated and multi award-winning sailing superyachts in the world, the contemporary explorer M/Y Exuma, and the elegant cruiser M/Y Cloud 9, the list of leading international exhibitors continues to expand.

The Show is gaining the support of more and more of the industry's biggest players, and this year Alloy Yachts, Lürssen, Edmiston & Company, Fraser Yachts, Perini Navi/Picchiotti, Philippe Briand, Porto Montenegro, Rossinavi Yachts, Sunreef Yachts, Y.CO, and Yacht Zoo are among the world famous brands exhibiting for the first time and joining their illustrious peers who have supported SYS from the beginning.

Andy Treadwell, managing director of organisers Singapore Yacht Events, says this year’s surge in interest is testament to the global yachting industry’s recognition of Asia as an important emerging market, and an affirmation of SYS's ability to attract a high calibre of clientele to meet the market-leading builders and brokers.

The show has grown tremendously over the four years since we started, practically doubling in size at each edition, and a significant number of boats have been sold – especially last year,” Treadwell says. Popular opinion seems to indicate that the Singapore show is now considered the most important industry event in Asia, in the same way as Fort Lauderdale is the leading show in America and Monaco and Cannes are the must-attend events in Europe.

Treadwell continues: "SYS has become the principal marketing platform in Asia for all the big boating and yachting brands, and plays an important part in growing the numbers of boating enthusiasts who will one day become superyacht charterers and buyers. We are very pleased to welcome so many excellent exhibitors, as well as our sponsors Maxim Trading, Luxaviation, Sevenstar Yacht Transport and MTU Asia, aboard for this year’s event."

The show’s dramatic growth is reflective of Singapore’s ranking as the third-highest city in the world for resident multi-millionaires*, as well as reports that place it as the Asian wealth management epicenter, with total assets of S$1.4 trillion** under management with 500 licensed players.

The appetite for luxury goods in Singapore has never been stronger - more than 11,000 unique visitors registered for the 2013 Singapore Yacht Show, with over 70 vessels (22 over 20m) and 2,513m2 of exhibition space on display representing 100 luxury brands.

Visitors to the 2014 event can also look forward to displays of fine art, modern supercars, classic cars and luxury property while reveling in the party atmosphere of the boardwalks around Quayside Isle where all the bars and restaurants, as well as the stunning W Singapore – Sentosa Cove, will form a lively backdrop.

There are many debuts at SYS 2014. Simpson Marine’s Lagoon 52 is one exciting new arrival, demonstrating a whole new era in cruising catamaran design, while other notable Asian launches include The Royal Albatross, a Tall Ship refurbished with a superyacht interior.

Executive chairman of ONE°15 Marina Club Mr Arthur Tay, says: “We are absolutely delighted to be hosting this iconic event once again, and play our part in positioning Singapore as a sustainable yachting and nautical hub, in drawing such important visitor numbers to Sentosa Cove. We are seeing a real growth in the yachting and boating industry here, as a result of the yacht show’s team’s efforts over the past four years.

Phil Blake is the Show’s event director and heads Treadwell’s team of highly motivated and passionate personalities. “It’s very exciting to be involved in such a landmark event – one that is truly bringing together the international yachting industry to Singapore and the region. The team is working flat-out to cope with the interest in the show, but we are loving every minute and look forward to a stand-out show in April,” he says.
