The only truly international B2B exhibition of its kind, the METSTRADE show in the Amsterdam RAI Convention Centre is a first port of call for all marine industry professionals. As well as being the world’s largest marine equipment trade show, excellent networking opportunities, a broad range of showcased innovations and the prestigious DAME design award set the METSTRADE show apart.

The three-day METSTRADE show’s main audience is yacht builders, naval architects, repair yards, distributors, dealers, wholesalers, captains, marina operators and equipment manufacturers from around the world. In 2014 the show confirmed its status as the leading B2B event of its kind with a record attendance of 21,086 visitors enjoying the presentations by 1,358 exhibitors and much more besides.

Many of the exhibitors will have a stand within the 18 country pavilions. These are organised together with relevant Marine Industry Associations in order to generate a national bond and combine marketing efforts. See what's happening at the Superyacht Pavillion (SYP) here.

Face to face
“The METSTRADE show provides an excellent opportunity to meet with exhibitors and distributors from as far afield as New Zealand, Singapore, the Middle East and Africa as well as from all over Europe,” says Irene Dros, Maritime Manager at RAI Amsterdam: “The 6.5% rise in international visitors at last year’s event – who represented no less than 108 nationalities – proves that the growing marine industry sees this exhibition as a vital hub. Globalisation drives business growth and the global economy is very much to the fore at the METSTRADE show. We all operate in a digital world yet this event showcases the value of face-to-face meetings in a trade show environment.”

Dedicated areas
In addition to the country pavilions and other exhibitor zones, the METSTRADE show has three dedicated areas for specialist sectors: the SuperYacht Pavilion, the Marina & Yard Pavilion and the Construction Material Pavilion. Each offers a self-contained exhibition within the larger show context and features its own concepts and programme.

B2B event for the global superyacht industry
The SuperYacht Pavilion (SYP) has gone from strength to strength over the past decade as it partners with the Global Superyacht Forum. With its exclusive atmosphere and myriad educational and social networking opportunities, the pavilion offers a unique opportunity to meet specifiers and advisers in an environment that is genuinely conducive to business. The SYP attracts an unrivalled number of industry leaders and influential decision makers: captains, designers, project managers, yacht builders, owners and their representatives.

MYP to host World Marinas Conference 2016
The Marina & Yard Pavilion (MYP) plays host to marina owners, operators, developers and suppliers from around the world. It also features an impressive line-up of speakers and one of the most important global marina networking gatherings of the year, the Waterfront Drinks.  Held on the second day of the METSTRADE show (the Wednesday), this year’s Waterfront Drinks will see the official launch of the ICOMIA World Marinas Conference 2016, which will take place in Amsterdam during the METSTRADE show 2016 and be hosted by the MYP.

Specialist platform for raw materials and composites
The Construction Material Pavilion (CMP) showcases the very latest developments and innovations in the materials used in boatbuilding. The sector is continuously discovering and applying materials from other sectors such as the construction, aviation and automotive industries. This pavilion is a superb resource for those interested in accessing these advanced materials and construction technologies while carefully balancing costs and benefits.

Design and innovation: the blueprint for success
Whether attending the METSTRADE show for the first time or a regular since the 1980s, exhibitors and visitors alike will benefit this year from an enhanced focus on the InnovationLAB platform. Located in the Elicium building and advised by an Innovation Content board and strong partner network, the InnovationLAB is one of the inspirational hubs of the METSTRADE show where people can discover and share new ways of production. The concept will be supported by other hives of activity such as the IBI Newsroom, Material Xperience On Tour exhibition (with 125 raw materials on display), and a virtual presentation of the products that win the 25th edition of the DAME Design awards.

The DAME Design Award is the most prestigious international design competition for new marine equipment and accessories. It will celebrate its silver jubilee edition at the METSTRADE show 2015 after an independently appointed jury of industry peers have examined thousands of products in specific marine categories. Over the past quarter of a century the DAME has come to set the pace for new concepts and designs in the worldwide leisure marine industry… And this year will certainly be no exception.

On the agenda

The winners of the DAME Design Award will be announced at the official kick-off of the METSTRADE  show 2015 on the morning of Tuesday 17 November. Peter Sander, Manager Emerging Technologies & Concepts at AIRBUS Industries, will give the keynote speech at this traditional Breakfast Briefing. He will speak on the subject of ‘On the way to Additive Layer Manufacturing: Chances & Challenges for future of design & industrial production’.

The Future of Recycling Conference
The complementary events that surround the METSTRADE show and add to its stature actually get underway the day before the official opening. The Future of Recycling conference will be held on Monday 16 November in RAI Amsterdam. It will focus on the technical/commercial challenges and significant opportunities presented by 'End-of-Life Boats'.

Global Superyacht Forum
The three-day Global Superyacht Forum also starts of the day before the METSTRADE show. From 16 to 18 November, this annual conference will welcome over 550 of the superyacht industry's key players to RAI Amsterdam for a tried and tested formula of keynote sessions and intimate, closed-door workshop discussions.

This year’s theme is ‘Putting the fun into Fundamentals’. “Our mission is to bring together a team of visionaries, innovators and free thinkers who will make people think differently about the future of our industry, how we can inspire and engage with new owners and show them how much fun we can deliver,” explains Martin Redmayne, Chairman of The Superyacht Group.

New: Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement
A new complementary event that is set to become a firm favourite is the Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement. The ceremony will be held on the evening of Wednesday November 18 at the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam. Nominations for the six available awards which opened last week are free to enter and are already pouring in. Tickets for the glittering gala dinner, organised in association with headline sponsor Raymarine, are now on sale via www.boatbuilderawards.com

Bustling Amsterdam
One final attraction that has remained a constant throughout the long and successful history of the METSTRADE show is its location in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. This bustling yet very safe European hub offers countless attractions in terms of its history and culture. Exhibitors and visitors to the METSTRADE show often extend their visit before or after the three-day event to enjoy the delights of Amsterdam.
