Early Bird Rates for APYC at Singapore Yacht Show

In April 2016, the Asia Pacific Yachting Conference (APYC) and Asia Boating Forum (ABF) will be held at ONE°15 Marina Club, Sentosa Cove.

These two leading industry events will provide attending delegates with insights into the economic and regulatory framework as well as market updates of the recreational marine industry in Asia. The Early Bird Rates are closing on the 30th November 2015 so this is the last chance to register at specially reduced rates.

Asian markets are at varying stages of development.

While the markets in Singapore & Hong Kong are relatively mature, others are at an embryonic stage.

The Forum aims to bring decision makers and key players together, to share experiences and discuss the best ways to develop boating in the region. Each country has its own boating regulations and practices, sometimes based on its own actual needs, but often based on outdated policies or insufficient awareness of the benefits the industry can bring. In spite of this, there is much commonality, and many lessons to be learnt and shared. For boating to grow regionally, all countries have to level up and develop best practice.

Indonesia opens seas for yachts cruising

Following on from the announcements at the 2015 Asia Pacific Yachting Conference, the Indonesian Government has made two Presidential Decrees to place marine tourism at the forefront of the countryís maritime and tourism policies. As of November 2015, foreign yachts wishing to cruise for private purposes in Indonesian sovereign waters can now do so with greater ease. 

Gone is the tedious process of clearing in and out of each province - there are now 18 designated Customs, Immigration, Port and Quarantine (CIPQ) clearance points. Once cleared into Indonesian waters through one of these ports, yachts have freedom of movement for up to three years before clearing out of another designated port.

Visas to Indonesia are now easier for crew and owners, as passport holders from 90 separate countries no longer require a visa to enter Indonesia for tourism purposes. Gone also are the significant temporary import duties; instead, a simple guarantee can be placed by an agent, owner or captain.

Even more astounding is the marina infrastructure been put in place. By 2019 there will be more than 100 new marinas in Indonesia; some privately owned and operated, some government-owned so as to facilitate the new clearance procedures.

This excellent news has come at the end of nearly two decades of collaboration between Indonesian officials and their regional counterparts. It will open up the unsurpassed waters of Indonesia to the global cruising yacht and boat fleet.
