Why Use a Specialist Supplier when Purchasing for New Builds?

2017 was quite a year for Superyacht Tenders and Toys who outfitted a number of high profile yachts including Faith, Al Lusail, Cloud 9 and Ulysses, and went on to win the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

To understand what lies behind this success, and why clients have found their service worthwhile - even when a competent build captain and crew could do much of the work themselves - we hear from MD Josh Richardson, himself an ex-yacht manager and crew member.

The market for water toys, tenders and equipment is a lot more complicated than it used to be. Given that the size of the newer yachts is increasing, there is more space on board for the fun stuff, which means that the whole purchasing process can be daunting to say the least. This is the area that we specialise in. We focus just on this small niche within the industry which means that we amass specialist, detailed knowledge through experience.

We use this experience and knowledge to help our clients to make the right choices and we also deal with all the practical stuff – project management, shipping, storage, warranty, training etc. Everything that the yacht requires to make full use of their tenders and toys. We believe this adds considerable value and, because we get the best prices from the manufacturers themselves, we can pass any discounts on to our clients saving them money as well.

There are hundreds of tender manufacturers advertising their boats to the superyacht industry and it can get very confusing. Having an independent go-to company who can provide options and opinion based on experience gives a valuable overview of the most suitable tenders according to criteria of space, budget and requirements.

SYTT really came to the party for us and your knowledge of the products and options available was a great help. We are really happy with the quality of the items and the speed in which you delivered. Mudd, Owners Representative MY Ulysses (above)

Once a decision has been made clients can contact the manufacturer directly, or purchase through SYTT. For all new-builds SYTT offers the best value packages, at the same or lower than the manufacturer’s direct retail price. With each tender purchase we also include our complimentary build support whch means that SYTT is on site at key stages of the build reporting on progress and keeping the client up to date with progress. This added value at a discounted price is a win-win situation for the yacht.

After-sales support, including warranty support and sourcing of spares is also offered at no extra charge, so if the yacht has issues or needs support during the busy season,  having a company to work on this and save valuable time is very welcome.

Josh and the team at SYTT did a fantastic job in a very short time (over the Christmas holidays no less) to totally outfit our latest new build with toys. They are dedicated, knowledgable, and punctual. Looking forward to working with them again soon. Tripp Hock, Galactica Fleet

Experience of numerous tender builds with many different manufacturers means that SYTT knows what to look for in a boat and a builder – the good, the bad and the ugly! It's precisely this experience that allows us to deliver the best possible boat, on time and on budget.

Increasingly, on large custom projects that have not been purchased through SYTT, we are also becoming involved as client project managers, paid directly by the client to oversee the build of their tenders. This project management service ensures that everyone is working on the same team supported by experts. The exact level of involvement of SYTT can be as much or as little as required.

With regards to yacht toys, gym equipment, safety gear, deck equipment, jetskis and all other toys, involving a company such as SYTT from the initial concept means that all onboard storage, cranes, racking and equipment is considered from the outset. SYTT can also provide a complimentary design package to shipyards, owners and managers outlining toy and equipment sizes when given the opportunity to quote on toy provision. Visits to the shipyard are also included at no cost to the client.

The team at SYTT were fantastic right from the start. They were able to source all products for our new build, give accurate times for delivery, supply weight calculations and dimensions for storage, and package it all in a timely manner at a great cost. I would highly recomend them to come up with good solutions for any new build needs. Captain Ian Cook, SY Ngoni (above)

When it comes to purchasing, SYTT is a dealer and distributor of extensive ranges of equipment including life rafts, yacht slides, tender whips, ropes, fenders, jetskis, Seabobs and more. This ensures that you can purchase everything from one company at the best value and maintain a single point of contact for the duration of the build. Having a company handling all shipping, logistics, VAT, customs and exports ensures the best possible service.

Of course everyone wants to ensure they get the best value for their owner or client and in this industry the expectation is that everyone gets three quotes. When SYTT quote we immediately quote the best price to make sure it stands up from the start, with any discounts depending on the size of the order. Whether you are a captain, officer, owner, or manager it's always worth getting a quote from us!
