Superyacht Solutions: VesselWatch Meets GEST

The superyacht experience is known for incorporating the best of the best but, more often than not, the technology on board does not compare to the solutions available ashore. From outdated media and control systems to sluggish software that lacks superyacht-standard efficiency, the technical details can be overlooked, negatively impacting a largely invisible but significant part of daily life aboard. Demand is high for evolved, superyacht-specific solutions that are as modern and stylish as they are intuitive to use. Net-Logic Marine and YachtCloud’s latest technical collaboration is paving the way to answer that demand.

VesselWatch meets GEST

The luxury marine communication specialists at Net-Logic Marine have made it their mission to supply innovative solutions when it comes to safety in the marine business. The multi-functional safety and communications system, VesselWatch by Globalview Systems, is a fantastic case in point. Expanding the capabilities of a two-way radio system, since its launch in 2014, VesselWatch has evolved into one of the most essential pieces of equipment in the business.

Recently announcing their latest integration with the bespoke service call system GEST, the focus is now firmly placed on enhancing the guest experience through improved levels of service. “Many of those in the industry will already know VesselWatch,” says Globalview’s Development Manager, Matthew Johnston. “The main focus of VesselWatch is to provide safety, security and service solutions for crew and guests on board – delivering the right information to the right crew member. Our hospitality service section is designed to enhance the guests experience. Always looking to improve our system, our latest integration is with YachtCloud’s GEST service call buttons.”

Integrating the GEST server with VesselWatch allows service calls to be received by radios, meaning that no additional devices need to be carried by the crew. Improving overall efficiency on board, the crew are able to carry on with their regular duties with the reassurance that service calls will not be missed and will be answered as soon as possible. “We integrate with many different service call systems but none like YachtCloud’s,” continues Johnston. “After making a service call on the GEST button, feedback is provided directly to the guest, so they know when someone is on the way. The system also notifies the crew when someone responds to a call, which means multiple people do not attend to the guest. This integration is about combining advanced technologies to deliver a great guest experience with an efficient and discreet calling - it’s a must for any customer. We’ve worked closely with the YachtCloud team to keep it easy and simple for everyone!”

The future of luxury yacht service

Built by the superyacht technology experts at YachtCloud, GEST is a luxury service call system that reinvents luxury service for improved efficiency and service - the key ideals at the heart of VesselWatch. Nikusia Kooijmans, Business Development Manager at YachtCloud, further explains the synergy between VesselWatch and GEST. “Both of our products perfectly complement each other technology-wise. They are both ready-to-go software modules rather than programmed systems. Net-Logic Marine has clients who are looking for a unique, luxury service call, whereas YachtCloud has clients who are looking for the VesselWatch solution to receive calls on radios. We put our products together and can now offer our clients a completely closed, point to point solution.”

The GEST system consists of a customised service call button device with a glass touchscreen, server and app, with unique features including location-awareness, wireless charging and WiFi. The GEST service button features multiple touch areas that are customisable to specific calls and functions. Not only does this offer a more streamlined and personalised experience to guests, but it also allows the crew to respond to specific requests with total efficiency. Kooijmans continues: “GEST is designed for those who demand nothing but the very best. It is not “only” a service call solution, GEST is a full experience. It delivers enhanced service and unrivalled privacy in a bespoke design. Each GEST device is entirely customisable - we convert the clients’ needs into a unique solution, whether that’s the need for a regular service call only, a device with multiple call options or a device including room controls.”

Aside from the advanced practical benefits, the GEST Service Call System must be the chicest service call system out there. Designed specifically for use in high-end environments, the GEST button is finished in marine-grade stainless steel with a choice of three standard options: Solid Black with a matte black finish, Universe with black or brown leather finishing, or the Boutique button, finished in silver, bronze or 24k gold with custom leather and wood detailing. “The GEST buttons are stylish, top of the range and complement the interior of any luxury vessel,” says Johnston. “The bespoke design options also offer clients increased flexibility, meaning all customers can find a solution suitable for them.” Further custom options include engraving, as well as completely customising the GEST service call button to the interior style of the yacht.

A perfect partnership

The partnership between Net-Logic Marine and YachtCloud began in 2018 at the annual METSTRADE Show in Amsterdam, where the teams immediately saw the potential for technological collaboration. Johnston explains more about the development of the relationship: “We first saw the YachtCloud stand at METS in 2018 and the GEST button really caught our eye. After a demonstration from Nikusia, we started thinking about how we could integrate VesselWatch and GEST. We spent a lot of time assessing what customers are looking for, and together we created a solution for our visitors the following year. With both companies providing additional value to yachts and yacht owners, we work together to ensure the best solution is put forward.”

“Since the first contact with YachtCloud at METS 2018, the relationship has continued to grow,” Johnston concludes as he looks to the future. “You could not ask to work with a more friendly and generous team. From the equipment provided by them through to the marketing material to the technical assistance, the experience working with GEST has been a pleasure. We look forward to continuing working with YachtCloud in the future - they are always looking at new innovative products, and if we can help give the end customer a better experience with our solutions, who knows what is next!”

Looking forward to a fruitful relationship, Kooijmans adds: “We’re looking forward to developing new business and new projects with Net-Logic Marine and creating significant exposure for our amazing solutions. We are excited for what the future will bring!”.
