• McMurdo Launches MEOSAR Online Knowledge Center

    McMurdo, the world’s most trusted name in emergency readiness and response, announced today that it has launched a web-based MEOSAR Knowledge Center. The site is a dynamic information portal for MEOSAR (Medium Earth Orbit Search and Rescue), the next generation version of the Cospas-Sarsat international search and rescue (SAR) satellite system that has helped to save over 40,000 lives since 1982.

    Nautilus International, the Union for maritime professionals has called for calm among British shipowners in the wake of the referendum vote in favour of the UK's exit from the EU. The call comes after one leading ferry operator, Stena Line, warned members that it is already considering the possibility of re-registering its UK-flagged vessels as a result of the Brexit vote.

    The 20th Superyacht Cup came to a spectacular close on Sunday afternoon and, after three days of nail biting action, the 33m Baltic built Win Win claimed overall victory this year. P2 was the winner in Class B while Tempus Fugit was victorious in Class C and the Herreshoff designed Mariette of 1915 championed in classic Class D.

    Under the ‘Décret Etat d’Accueil’, yachts undertaking charters in French territorial waters were to submit a declaration of cabotage that included details of crew employment and social security arrangements. Following the efforts of numerous parties, and with immediate effect, commercial yachts that comply with the new '70% rule' no longer have to do so.
