• Acquera Yachting to Acquire G&K Yachting in Greece

    Acquera Yachting founder and CEO Stefano Tositti and G&K Yachting Managing Directors Georgios Mourkakos and Kostas Skiathitis have announced a preliminary agreement for Acquera Yachting to acquire 100% of G&K Yachting’s agency division. Acquera Yachting offers full yacht agency services and, since launching in February, has opened a string of offices along the Italian coastline and main Islands in addition to their headquarters in Venice. The acquisition of G&K Yachting will allow them to expand into the east Mediterranean and will greatly reinforce their position in their offering to yachts.

    It is October 2015 and a U.S.-flagged cargo ship, El Faro, sets off on its usual route past the Bahamas, down to Puerto Rico. Less than 48 hours later the ship sails straight into the eye wall of a Grade 3 hurricane. The salvaging of the ship's data recorder has allowed a gripping picture to be built of how the worst U.S. maritime disaster in three decades came to pass.

  • Club de Mar Mallorca Renews Concession to 2044

    The Port Authority of the Balearic Islands has approved plans submitted by Club de Mar Mallorca to redevelop the marina as a port-city. The proposal includes the renewal of buildings, the redesign of docks, an extension to public areas and improvements to its visitor services. Club de Mar Mallorca will retain its concession until 2044, investing €50 million in redevelopment costs, contributing a further €250 million to the public purse.
