Superyacht Charities Golf Event in Mallorca Raises Estimated €26,000

The inaugural Superyacht Charities Golf Event (SYCGE) was in full swing on Thursday 13th October as 140 guests teed off at Golf Son Quint, Palma de Mallorca to raise an incredible estimated €26,000 for two of the Island’s charities: Yachting Gives Back and The Shambala Fundacion as well as the Superyacht Charities Cash for Causes fund.

With their ‘Top Deck Sponsor’ JOTUN being supported by their ‘Mid deck Sponsors’ AWLGRIP, Master Yachts and Peninsula, the event kicked off with breakfast for the early starters and was followed by a Texas scramble format with teams of four competing. Bars were available on the course and refreshment buggies were on hand throughout the day to keep golfers hydrated.

Golf Master, Chris Game of Privatus Club was on hand to conduct a briefing before the game and players had the opportunity to Beat the Pro, Peter Ledwidge in a nearest the pin contest. A Longest Drive and Hole in One contest had players competing and many left in a shiny motor taking the opportunity to have their car cleaned at the Shambala Car Wash while they were playing golf.

Non golfers and SYC supporters joined in the evening for a fun filled night of informal networking, all served up alongside a sumptuous Spanish BBQ, complete with drinks and live music. Prize giving and a lively and competitive raffle auction completed proceedings.

Derek Munro, Superyacht Charities Founder commented: “We’d like to thank our fantastic sponsors, those who generously donated raffle prizes and everyone who attended for their support of the inaugural SYCGE.

Following the phenomenal success of this year’s event, we hope to make it a regular date in the calendar alongside our other Superyacht Charities events, as we continue raising funds for carefully selected charitable beneficiaries.”

The next event is the SYC Antigua Sundowner during the Antigua Yacht Show to raise funds for the Antigua Conservation Society. For more information visit: www.superyachtcharities.com
