From 3-5 November, the fifth and final stop of the MotoSurf World Cup 2017 took place in Naples, Florida where competitors and fans gathered to find out who would become this year's male and female World Champions and the action did not disappoint. With nail biting action and stiff competition, we saw a number of records in MotoSurf racing history in the beautiful Sugden Regional Park.

Four leaders in the men's class were vying for the top prize with Sebastian Kubinec coming in with a point lead over Lukáš Záhorský, Petr Vencovský and Jakub Kornfeil.

The game was not over in the women's class either, where reigning Champion Aneta Šacherová still had a chance to fight for the title against current leader Martina Bravencová.

The weekend started on Friday with the qualifiers. Championship leaders of both classes strived to achieve their personal bests, achieving the fastest laptimes and gaining in confidence ahead of the final shootout. Sebastian Kubinec topped the men qualifying above Jakub Kornfeil and Lukáš Záhorský, but results were so close that everybody was impatient for the heats.

Martina Bravencová broke a record in the women's competition and left Aneta Šacherová in 2nd place, wih Klára Sitarová, at just 16 years of age, finishing 3rd. Going into the heats, Kubinec, Kornfeil and Záhorský dominated their groups, as did Bravencová and Šacherová; everyone's focus now turned towards the finals.

Kubinec, the current champion, topped the first final while Záhorský and Kornfeil finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.

What a battle up until the checkered flag. The Championship standings disregard each rider's worst result and any errors in scoring but, based on final calculations, we saw record making in Motosurf racing history!

The first two riders in the standings, Kornfeil vs Kubinec, were tied on points. However, having scored one more victory during the season, Kornfeil took the overall title. Jakub Kornfeil #84 from Jetsurf Factory Team becomes the World Champion for the second time in his jetsurfing career.
