Exceptional Diving Attracting More Yachts to Tahiti and Fiji

Fiji and Tahiti are becoming ever more popular during the off season as a growing number of captains and owners are attracted to the South Pacific's year round opportunity to experience special underwater encounters, such as swimming with humpback whales or diving with hammerhead sharks.

Last year Tahiti Private Expeditions and Superyacht Private Expeditions Fiji saw a marked rise in interest among yacht owners and charter guests keen to explore the rich diversity of marine life in these two regions, and here are a few of the highlights we'd like to share. 

Successful Fam Trip in the Islands of Tahiti

In August last year, Tahiti Private Expeditions (TPE) contributed to the success of a combined press / broker trip arranged by Tahiti Tourisme onboard the 34m motor yacht Askari in the Tuamotu atolls, north east of the island of Tahiti.

TPE offered the opportunity to a few high flying charter professionals from Burgess Yachts, Fraser Yachts and OnboardOnline to explore this group of pristine islands meeting growing interest from our clients.

The group dived the mythical spot where dolphins are regularly encountered in Rangiroa atoll, then back in Moorea they encountered humpbacks and their calves during a memorable journey on the water! The main focus of the trip was to provide a taste of the exclusive yachting experience in this region, combining exceptional diving with the unique warmth of Polynesian culture in a country home to a UNESCO biosphere.

Last season was also successful for Superyacht Private Expeditions Fiji, creating taillored dive /snorkeling itineraries and guiding yacht clients throughout their visit. Luckily, last year's hurricane did not impact the number of visiting yachts thanks to the expertise of local professionals who closely assisted yacht captains in planning their routes.

Already there is growing interest in the Fijian underwater world this year. The low season has attracted a growing number of vessels, indicting that the yachting industry is getting more comfortable with the cyclone procedures and forecasting information provided.

As in Tahiti, the Austral Summer is a great time to cruise and dive the islands in relative isolation and without the trade winds of the Austral Winter. 

Technical Diving With Rodolphe Holler

With increased demand from our diving clients, we now have an additional instructor on the brand of rebreather units TPE has selected to use and recommend. Already very familiar and experienced with technical diving on several brands of rebreathers, Rodolphe Holler gained his instructorship on AP Diving Evolution rebreathers and has since logged hundreds of dives over the past three years in various parts of the world.

Rebreathers allow you to dive longer with less deco stops. Since they make no bubbles, they're also ideal for special encounters requiring patience and a quiet environment. These high-tech units are extremely reliable and our expert guides are highly trained to meet all safety requirements.

Motor Yacht Askari Awarded Best Charter Crew 2016

During the Monaco Yacht Show 2016, MY Askari was awarded Best Charter Crew of the year in the under 50m category during Fraser Yachts’ annual gala at the Monaco Yacht Club. Tahiti Private Expeditions attended the event and contributed to the prizes the crew received.

Currently the only superyacht based year round in Tahiti, TPE has a lot of experience working with the crew onboard Askari, an exceptional crew who always go the extra mile for their charter guests. The boat has been based in French Polynesia for nine years and has hosted numerous dive charters with the assistance of our expert dive team.
