CCN will be announcing a new important attainment at the Cannes Yachting Festival this week, which sets a new course for the Marina di Carrara-based Italian boat builder.

MY Vanadis is the fourth yacht in CCN’s Fuoriserie family - a 31m fully-custom aluminum beauty that stands out for her harmonious architecture, classical, timeless outer lines and cutting-edge technological solutions, as well as featuring a great focus on environmental friendliness and efficiency. After the Yachting Festival, MY Vanadis will cruise on to reach the Monaco Yacht Show, where she will be on display from 25 to 28 September.

MY Vanadis is the first Made-in-Italy motor yacht to obtain the Lloyd’s Register’s “Hybrid Power” certification - a breakthrough resulting from a close cooperation between LR, CCN and Siemens. The latter is the supplier of the power management system and the batteries, which will allow the yacht to cruise in diesel, diesel-electric or full electric mode, ensuring unparalleled comfort and zero emissions.

The yacht is equipped with 2 Schottel STP 150 FP twin-propeller azimuth thrusters driven by a hybrid system which includes both traditional diesel engines and an electric engine supplied by generators or batteries. This means low consumption and limited environmental impact as well as increased onboard comfort thanks to reduced noise and vibrations both at anchor and when cruising.

Two CAT C9.3 B engines can push the Vanadis to a maximum speed of 12.5 knots, which decrease to 8 knots when cruising in electric mode. The craft is fitted with a set of AKASOL lithium-ion batteries (175 kWh) supplying most onboard utilities and allowing to remain at anchor at zero emissions for up to 17 consecutive hours and to cruise at limited speed for up to 120 minutes, depending on the power load.

Lloyd's Register's Rules and Regulations set appropriate standards for the design, construction and lifetime maintenance of hybrid propulsion crafts.

The design and construction of this yacht’s hybrid system are therefore based upon a painstaking analysis of the propulsion/power generation system and of all related risks, with the safest and most reliable technical solutions implemented onboard. The main focus points have been the propulsion system, the gensets, installation activities, materials, operating settings and modes, and emergency scenarios.

Onboard safety and reliability are ensured by a dual PMS (Power Management System), an internal BMS (Battery Management System) controlling lithium ion batteries, and external sensors to monitor the battery bay.

The layout includes a master cabin and two guest cabins on the lower deck, while the indoor areas of the main deck, behind the wheelhouse, feature a spacious salon furnished with a large L-shaped sofa, a dining area, and an open galley. Outside, both aft and forward on the main deck, are two comfortable lounge areas. A second pilot station can be found on the flybridge, which is entirely devoted to outdoor life, with sun loungers, a bar area, and a dining area. A 5.5. m tender is stored on the aft bathing platform.

Both the interior layout and interior styling have been fully customized to the specific needs and wishes of the Owner OF M/Y Vanadis. This has resulted in a highly functional, comfortable, discrete and tasteful design. The general style can be described as a modern interpretation of a “Jugendstile Interior” thanks also to the use of wood such as bleached oak and walnut. The use of a light color scheme, loose furniture, large windows and a well thought out general arrangement has given her this open relaxing ambiance.

Her light decor blends in with the furniture selected together with the owner from brands such as Wittmann, Giorgetti, Knoll and JAB.

“M/Y Vanadis is the first yacht launched in Italy to be certified as a ‘Hybrid Power’ craft by the Lloyd’s Register. Such an accomplishment makes our shipyard extremely proud, and strengthens CCN’s reputation as a Company ensuring top flexibility, quality and innovation,” says CCN’s CEO Diego Michele Deprati.

“Thanks to our cooperation with the Lloyd’s Register, we were able to design, develop, engineer, and build a magnificent yacht, the first in CCN’s new E-Prop line of hybrid propulsion boats. This new course confirms our full commitment to building world-class and technologically advanced products and marks yet another step forward towards a significant reduction of consumption and ever-increasing environmental sustainability.”

MY Vanadis has also been nominated in the “Innovation Trophy” category of the World Superyacht Trophy 2019, with the winner announced on Saturday 14 September in the charming setting offered by Hotel Carlton in Cannes.
