Marinepool announces partnership with XCats

Marinepool is pleased to announce a three year agreement as Strategic Partner and “Official Clothing Partner” of the UIM XCat World Series, a global powerboat racing series organized by the World Professional Powerboating Association (WPPA).

An UAE delegation headed by WPPA Vice President Dr Khalid Al Zahed and made up of Sid Bensalah, Secretary General of the WPPA and Arif Al Zafeen, Managing Director of Victory Team and multiple powerboat world champion met with the founders and owners of Marinepool to sign the deal, which is the culmination of an eight-year relationship with the leading German maritime lifestyle brand.Marinepool Powerboating 5

We are proud of what we have achieved and of our story,” said Robert Stark, President and CEO of Marinepool.

Bensalah said: “We have already had an ongoing relationship with Marinepool for a number of years and it is exciting to now have them on board for the next three years as strategic partner and “Official Clothing Suppliers” for the XCAT World Series. Powerboating3 copyBased in Dubai, the World Professional Powerboating Association (WPPA) is the founding and managing body for the UIM XCAT World Series.  The WPPA is sanctioned by the UIM – the international governing body of power boating, which is recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The UIM XCAT World Series is a thrilling series of high-speed races that takes the teams around the world as they battle for supremacy. Teams are awarded points according to their placings, and the team that has accrued the most points at the end of the season is declared overall winner.

XCAT boats are multi-hulls made of advanced carbon technology with two outboard engines with massive horse power, totaling 600 hp with up to 5,000cc and the minimum length allowed is 7.6 metres with a maximum of 10 metres. 

Three heats of the 2013 Series have already taken place (two in Dubai and one in Abu Dhabi) with a further five races, both UAE-based and international, planned for the remainder of the year.
