Norway´s Askeladden Boats AS has merged with the local boat dealer Båtens Beste AS. The merged company will operate under the name Askeladden Boats AS.
Båtens Beste is located in Hagavik, south of Bergen on the west coast.
“The reason for the merger is that we want to adjust our business for the time being and for times to come and also use the many resources we have in common,” Askeladdden´s Henrik Askvik told online daily midtsiden.no.
As an important dealer for Askeladden, Båtens Beste is situated close to the factory where Askeladden boats were produced before the production moved to Poland.
In addition, midtsiden.no reports that both companies expect to save some NOK4m (US$719,200) on a yearly basis through the new construction.
Askeladden Boats AS filed for bankruptcy in 2008/09 after almost 100 years in operation. The company is now fully owned by holding company Askeladden Industrier AS.
