St. Katharine Docks, central London’s only marina, has received the prestigious 5 Gold Anchor Award, one of the highest accreditations for its outstanding customer services & facilities.

The official announcement was made to Paul Tetlow, Marina General Manager, during the Southampton International Boat Show 2019, among yachting professionals, industry guests and media representatives. The assessment comprised of 89 separate Gold Anchor criteria, covering all areas of the marina operations, particularly focusing on facilities, customer service and infrastructure.

After its recent renovation in 2017, the marina now features 185 berths in three basins, for vessels up to 40m long, as a visitor or on long-term berth contracts. The marina offers outstanding facilities and services along with a social calendar of enjoyable nautical events and all-year-round activities.

Opened in 1828, the Thomas Telford-designed docks were once one of the busiest ports in the UK, renowned for handling luxury goods, sugar, rum, spices, perfumes, wines and tea. Today, St. Katharine Docks has evolved into a thriving waterside community and offers great facilities in an iconic setting. As the only central London marina, visitors can enjoy the unique experience of sailing the Thames and mooring right next to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.

On the 5 Gold Anchors Award, Paul Tetlow says: “The confirmation of the award is undoubtedly the testament for our hard work and infrastructure investment, and strengthens our commitment to striving for the very best customer experience. It is always our priority to welcome our berth holders and visiting boat owners with friendliness and professionalism and ensure them an enjoyable stay, while at the same time we maintain our facilities and services to the highest standards.

“As a member of The Yacht Harbour Association and Royal Yachting Association 'Active Marina' Partnership, we also seek to promote the benefits of boating and implement initiatives to attract new people, through new and more accessible activities. The marina team have put in a lot of hard work to achieve this accolade and it is a great recognition for us all.”

The accreditation of the award not only reflects the team’s continuous best practices, but also enhances the image of the marina on a global scale. Jointly administered by UK’s The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA) and Australia’s Marina Industries Association (MIA), this Global Scheme has been developed by the marina industry with the specific objective of raising standards and providing customer centric services.

The significant value of the assessment lies in and contributes towards continual business improvement related to infrastructure, customer service and innovative development. Additionally, the scheme has developed as a global performance benchmark and aims at helping customers in the evaluation and selection of marinas in line with their needs and requirements.
