Sarnia Yachts Opens Malta Office

Sarnia Yachts, one of the largest yacht fiduciaries in Europe, is pleased to announce the opening of its new office in Malta. Sarnia's headquarters in Guernsey will work closely with the Malta team to provide yacht operation, ownership and administration services.

The new office in Floriana, close to Grand Harbour, will establish and administer Maltese companies, and manage Maltese flag registrations, VAT administration, Maltese leasing and a range of other local services for private and commercial superyachts.

Having a local presence in Malta allows the team to provides additional support for the many yachts required to visit Malta, allowing Sarnia to provide a personal service to clients and ensure that ther yachts can depart promptly.

Patrick Spiteri, the new Managing Director of Sarnia Yachts (Malta) Limited has extensive fiduciary experiences, including tax compliance and structure solutions across several European jurisdictions.

Malta Expansion

‘Sarnia has been providing a range of Maltese services for many years and as the Malta business has grown it became necessary to have our own licensed operation based there,’ explains Bruce Maltwood, Business Development Director.

‘The quality of our service is paramount to Sarnia and our clients, so having our team in Malta ensures we can provide the same high standard of client service that we have delivered from Guernsey for the past 45 years. We’ve always been a specialist marine fiduciary and with our focus only on the yachting industry, having a presence in Malta makes sense.’

Malta is geographically well placed in for yachts transiting between the East and West of the Mediterranean, and has already extended its highly regarded shipping registry and legislation to become one of the more popular flag states for EU-flagged vessels.

Yacht Ownership and Operation

With 40 years’ experience in yacht ownership and operational services, Sarnia now has over 30 staff across two offices, providing yacht administration, VAT management, flag registration, crew employment and payroll and corporate yacht ownership.
