King's Night Party for Yacht Crew in Antibes!

No one parties like the Dutch as Antibes is about to find out with the first ever King’s Night celebrations for yacht crew on 26 April!

Traditionally King’s Day on 27 April is when the Dutch celebrate the birthday of their king each year. Across the country towns come alive with street parties and people wearing orange clothes and wigs – the national colour stemming from the name of the Dutch royal family, ‘House of Oranje’.

Now on the eve of King’s Day, four companies are bringing the party to Antibes for a fantastic night of music and celebrations for yacht crew to kick off the Med season.

“We want to bring an awesome King’s Night celebration to the European capital of yachting!” said Peter Vogel of Luxury Hospitality Management. “It’s going to be a fun gathering of yacht crew ahead of the summer season, an opportunity to mingle with new and seasoned crew, and a way to show our appreciation to the crew we all work with year in and year out.”

Another Dutch partner behind the event is We Ship Yachts owned by Evan Kortmann. “With this cooperation between our four companies, we’re really looking forward to bringing some Dutch heritage to the south of France and to meeting up with crew and fellow business owners in Antibes.” said Evan.

Delicious food will be catered by Joost and Maarten van Gorsel of We Supply Yachts and drinks are provided by Onshore Cellars, based in Antibes and owned by Jess and Ed Dunnett. “We’re not Dutch but we’ve spent a lot of time in the Netherlands and we’ve wanted to do something like this for a long time. It’s a great opportunity to bring the fun attitude that the Dutch have to kick start the season!" said Jess.

In the spirit of giving back, Kings Night is also supporting ECOMER – Yachts du Coeur, a local non-profit organization collecting and redistributing linen, clothes, tools and non-perishable goods from yachts to help people in need in the Med and the Caribbean following natural disasters.

“During the evening we’ll be collecting donations for ECOMER who do really great work, we’re delighted to support them.” said Peter.

This year King's Night will be held at the Petanque in Port Vauban, and next year the hope is to host the event at the Bastion St Jaume, a great spot familiar to anyone who’s attended the many events in Port Vauban, such as the Voiles d’Antibes in June.”
