    Over the past week stories have been circulating in the national and international press describing a woeful yachting season in the south of France. The Daily Telegraph, Nice Matin and Le Figaro have all reported a visible reduction in the number of yachts berthed in marinas from Antibes to St Tropez due mainly to prohibitively high costs on the Cote d’Azur.

    Nautilus International has issued an urgent warning to members serving on superyachts in the south of France following ‘an alarming increase’ in criminalisation of crew members in recent months. Nautilus says seafarers have been facing fines of up to €10,000 and even imprisonment, as well as offences being recorded against an officer’s certificate of competency, following prosecution for anchoring in prohibited areas or other seemingly minor infringements.
