    Solent Refit is delighted to announce they have secured a 30 year lease on the shipyard and are now seeking to improve the facilities further to become one of the UK's most impressive superyacht refit and repair facilities. The expansion plans include waterfront offices which will overlook the Southampton Estuary. This will give clients, guests and subcontractors a place to work and carry out project meetings in a modern and relaxed surrounding. There will be a lounge area and a gym for crew and guests. They will be opening a chandlery on site to service the surrounding area.

  • Princess Yachts Secures Government Funds

    Luxury boat manufacturer Princess Yachts has secured £4.6m of government funding for a new boatyard in Plymouth. The company said the money from the Regional Growth Fund (RGF) would secure 400 jobs in the city. The French-owned firm said the RGF offer had persuaded it against the alternative of buying an overseas yard, possibly in Germany.

    The Dutch shipbuilding industry is opening itself up to the world in a Discovery Channel series called “SuperYachts.” The documentary series – slated to be six episodes – will open the doors on what has traditionally been a guarded sector of this already private industry. Each episode features different builders and shipyards, and takes viewers through the entire process, according to Farouk Nefzi, the director of HISWA Multimedia BV, a Dutch shipbuilders and watersports trade association. HISWA worked in partnership with the shipyards and Discovery Channel to develop the series.
