The 2015 edition of the Monaco Yacht Show underlines the beginning of a new era as the show celebrates its 25th edition, with a new look, extra berths and a reorganisation of its exhibition area.

Set in the iconic Port Hercules of the Principality of Monaco since 1991, the MYS is the only place to admire, visit and purchase over 120 extraordinary one-off superyachts built by the world’s most respected shipyards. 40 new launches are unveiled in world premiere for every edition.

On the dock, the MYS exhibits 500 leading luxury yachting companies, from superyacht builders, yacht designers, manufacturers and the most important brokerage houses.

This year sees the relocation of Darse Nord to Quai Antoine 1er:

The reorganisation of the 2015 MYS resulted from a decision by the Monaco Government to start the renewal works of Port Hercules involving the construction of new underground car parks and the museum containing the private collection of antique cars belonging to HSH Prince Rainier III.

As a consequence, the historical exhibition area of the Darse Nord will move to Quai Antoine 1er.

Quai Antoine 1er will be able to deliver an aggregate of 2,825 sqm of surface area - divided into two air-conditioned exhibition tents (Quai Antoine 1er A – 400 sqm - and Quai Antoine 1er B - 2,425 sqm) with relocation of most of the exhibitors of the former Darse Nord tent.

Extension of the afloat exhibition up to Quai Rainier III

The decision was disclosed in July 2013 during the announcement of the partnership between the Monaco Yacht Show, the Yacht Club de Monaco and the Société d’Exploitation des Ports de Monaco (S.E.P.M.).Starting this year, the MYS will offer three berths alongside Quai Rainier III catering for yachts over 100 metres in length, increasing the afloat exhibition capacity to 121 super & megayachts.

This new setting on the southern side of Port Hercules requires the development of a new traffic flow between all the existing and new exhibition areas.

A tale of one city and it's great expectations

The show that will open its doors to visitors on 23rd September 2015 will be a celebration of the event's quarter century.

The Monaco throughout its history, the Monaco Yacht Show has been the tale of one city: Monte Carlo. Twenty five years ago, the Principality of Monaco had no flagship yachting event of its own, despite already being the international meeting point for large yacht owners and their agents. Deals were struck, contracts signed and new yachts were built as a result of those meetings, and the local authorities recognized an opportunity to develop yachting business activities around this iconic venue.

Those who attended the very first edition of the Monaco Yacht Show in 1991 recall that the entire event was staged along Quai des Etats-Unis with around 50 exhibiting companies, mainly from Monaco and the French Riviera eager to showcase their wares. Just a handful of foreign companies took stands, alongside 30 yachts with an average length of just 32 metres.

Two decades later, Monaco has become the world's superyacht hub and the Monaco Yacht Show is the jewel in the industry’s crown.

This year the Monaco Yacht Show stages its largest ever event, unveiling a record-breaking showcase of 121 spectacular superyachts afloat, with an average size over 47 metres. Five hundred exhibiting companies will display their most innovative, exclusive products and services for the top end of this market.

With a new air of confidence, orders are being signed, designers are talking of ever larger tonnage and the myriad of service industries that surround the building of yachts is flourishing as a result.

Attracting the UHNWI

In recent years there has been a surge in the younger buyer entering the superyacht market and wealthy visitors are flocking to Monaco from all over the world. They bring not just their money, but also a new enthusiasm for tasting the good life of luxury on the water.

Much of this new wave of excitement is th result of an awareness programme devised and implemented by show organisers working with partners in the Far East.

It has created a better understanding by introducing the superyacht concept to an awakening audience. Organising events like Monaco Week in Shanghai and Beijing during June 2015 did a great deal to promote Monaco as a destination and also the superyacht industry as a whole to a Chinese social elite.

Working with the Monaco Embassy in China and Chinese Media Partner, Blu Inc Media, has done much to attract visitors from the Orient. China Night in Monaco and attendcance at MYS by these VIP guests will do much to cement a relationship with this burgeoning superyacht owning elite.

Specifically catering to that marketplace, the organisers have created the Sapphire Experience Pack. This limited edition series of just 100 packs has been reserved for the most illustrious of clients visiting the show. It allows them to enjoy an all-inclusive visit to the show that will include the boarding of superyachts, with lunch and champagne offered at the Upper Deck Lounge and an invitation to the MYS Gala Inaugural Party.
