Horizon Marine Electronics was founded just over a year ago by life-long marine electronics expert Chris Keenan. The highly experienced team have already completed a number of headliner projects including aboard Feadship’s M/Y Herculina, and most recently a fully integrated bridge and fly bridge system aboard M/Y Nati Tre with, brand new to the market, Simrad Yachting equipment.

Our team designed and installed, a brand new fully integrated glass bridge, fly bridge consul and two new radars, on board 34m M/Y Nati Tre. The Horizon team, who started the deconstruction just after Christmas, completed it all in good time before the yacht went into the shipyard for general works.

MD of Horizon Marine Electronics, Chris Keenan commented on the project,

‘’The Simrad equipment that we have supplied is the latest technology on the market, although Furuno is perceived to be the Rolls Royce of bridge equipment, Simrad have over taken with technology and have become a big player in the bigger boat market. On Nati Tre we replaced all of the bridge / fly-bridge screens with the latest touch screens. Our team rewired the entire backbone of the boat with NMEA2000 in order to replace all the old cabling. Following this, we replaced the multi-displays on the bridge and fly-bridge. An extra added feature we installed was the Simrad Go-Free Wifi: this system is very smart… it will allow the captain to be anywhere on the boat, for example, in his cabin, and he can take control of a screen from the bridge and control it from his iPad. On the bridge we also fitted the very first ever OP50 assembly.
All in all this is a very impressive job with brand new equipment. The team did a fantastic job.’

The Captain of M/Y Nati Tre, Richard Harding, commented on the project,

''I am pleased with the job and installation; it’s neat, professional, great looking, and most of all... it works the way it should! The important, and ultimately impressive, thing for us was the planning phase delivered by Horizon Marine Electronics (HME). The plan was designed really well and put into action without any deviation from it. Much of the equipment installed is brand new to the market which could have led to delays, but due to the experience and meticulous planning from the engineers, the project was completed with outstanding competence. One of the features of our new system is the fully integrated video system. I can control the screens remotely from an iPad, which means I can change the direction of the radar from the iPad and view the screen whilst completing other tasks at hand. All in all this is a very good system and I would definitely recommend Horizon Marine Electronics.’
