Cramm Partners with Hydromar on Hydraulic Solutions for Superyachts

Cramm Yachting Systems and Hydromar Marine Equipment from the Netherlands are both leaders in the provision of hydraulic system and solutions for superyachts.

Cramm focuses primarily on the more complex projects at the highest end of the spectrum while Hydromar provides more premium standardised products.

The two Holland Yachting Group members have been sister companies for many years, and have recently begun to emphasise the benefits of this partnership to their client base, which includes many of the leading superyacht yards.

Leaders in hydraulics

Cramm Yachting Systems is a global leader in custom-made hydraulic equipment for superyachts, including passerelles, ladders, deck cranes, sliding beam cranes, doors, hydraulic power units and many other high-quality technical products.

“Cramm’s comprehensive approach, covering everything from design & production to installation & commissioning and an excellent after-sales service, greatly facilitates matters for our clients,” says Paul Boelens, sales director at Cramm. “This has helped us build an unrivalled global reputation among yacht owners.”

Hydromar Marine Equipment designs and manufactures hydraulic components and systems, such as accommodation ladders, passerelles, deck cranes, tender garage cranes, bathing platforms, bowthrusters, hydraulic power units and steering systems.

The brand provides premium standardised semi-custom equipment for superyachts from 30 to 85 metres, as well as fully bespoke solutions. “Hydromar has a broad range of knowledge, expertise and production facilities in-house,” Rob Montijn, director sales and operations at Hydromar points out. “This allows us to provide the highest level of quality and service, and take care of the entire process from design & production to commissioning.

Complementary expertise

Cramm and Hydromar come under the umbrella of their parent companies ESV Berlikum and SMI Groep. While both are firmly in the premium end of the market, Cramm has more experience with semi- and fully custom-made products whereas Hydromar excels in standardised products. “This allows us to work together to reach the best solution for customers by combining high-end, sophisticated standard solutions with customised ones from Cramm,” explains Montijn.

“In situations where there is significant overlap between the two needs, we can jointly provide advice to find the most comprehensive and cost-effective solution for the client,” Boelens continues. “We also work together internally to achieve the outcome that best suits every situation. This is facilitated by our shared know-how in issues such as classification and the production process, leading to less expensive, faster and more efficient operation.”

Together they cover the whole trajectory. The unrivalled range of products and solutions proposed by the two companies gives them a cost advantage over the competition. Furthermore, clients have a more versatile and complete package at their disposal, and can access standard modular and custom-made products that run the full gamut of the market.
