EAST HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT (USA) – Bad Elf® is inviting visitors to the 2013 Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS), stand 11.625, to see how the company’s range of low-cost GPS products will soon make it possible for the iPad (and other Apple iOS products) to become the focal point for navigation, environmental and engine sensor monitoring - anywhere on board.

“Our innovative technology will, quite simply, make the iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch an integral component of any boating experience,” said Bad Elf President and CEO John Cunningham.

The Bad Elf® GPS Pro 2200, a compact, low cost Apple-approved Bluetooth accessory, enables an iPod touch, iPhone, iPad, or iPad mini to become the central navigation and boat monitoring component on any vessel that would not otherwise have marine electronics onboard. For those with plenty of marine electronics, this kit can turn an iPod touch, iPhone, iPad, or iPad mini into a capable adjunct display for use beyond the cabin or console. MSRP is US $179.99.

The new Bad Elf GPS for Lightning™ Connector is an officially licensed by Apple plug-in dongle that instantly adds location support for iPhone 5, iPad Mini and iPod touch (5th generation). Bad Elf is working under Apple’s MFi program to officially certify that it works with the newly announced iPhones, iPads and iPad mini. It features a high performance, 66 channel WAAS enabled GPS that delivers latitude, longitude, altitude, speed, GPS track and time. The receiver is accurate to within 9 feet (2.5 meters) and performs up to 60,000 feet and up to 1000 MPH. The core GPS module contains support for the Russian GLONASS satellite constellation, allowing for simultaneous capture of position data from up to 33 GPS and GLONASS satellites for improved satellite coverage and position accuracy.

The Bad Elf GPS for Lightning Connector quickly acquires a satellite lock anywhere in the world – without cell tower assistance. No Internet connection or monthly subscription is required. MSRP is US $129.99.
