DYT Yacht Transport’s yacht carrier the Yacht Express has successfully called into Sydney, Australia for the first time and was met with great enthusiasm, creating quite a stir on Sydney Harbour.

Onlookers from the local Manly and private ferries as well as other holiday pleasure craft were eager to take a look at the 'sinking ship'.

Upon the ship’s arrival, Sydney Ports provided a safe, wash-free area for the vessel to drop anchor and before long, the Yacht Express was ready to discharge and load a mixture of both power and sail yachts.

The unloading and loading operation only takes a matter of hours. “I’m sure those who were in attendance will agree that a float on/float off service is an extremely effective way to transport yachts,” says Dean Sharples, Director of Sevenstar Yacht Transport Australia, who also represent DYT Yacht Transport within Australia.

“Seeing the vessel in Sydney Harbour has created plenty of interest. It’s not every day that we see a vessel of this calibre.”

Once all yachts have entered the ship and tied up in their respective positions, it was then up to the divers on board to ensure all cradling equipment and securing materials were in place under the water while the ship’s Master slowly brought the vessel back up from the depths. Pumping out the ship’s ballast tanks that were filled with sea water shortly after arrival.

Yacht Express’ first call into Sydney Harbour was a total success for us,” says Dean. “She will surely be back again to service Australia’s growing Superyacht requirements.”

In Australia The DYT brand is solely focused on bringing superyachts to the South Pacific region that are looking for new cruising grounds and regions to explore. Sevenstar Australia are able to assist all superyacht owners and captains alike in arranging the required temporary permits.
