Costa Concordia Captain Sentenced to 16 Years in Prison

Former captain, Francesco Schettino, was found guilty by an Italian court on Wednesday of charges related to the January 2012 Costa Concordia disaster and was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
Schettino was charged with multiple manslaughter, causing a shipwreck and abandoning ship in one of the highest-profile shipping disasters in recent years.
Prosecutors had requested Schettino be sent to jail for over 26 years-more on this story
