Solarglide Wins Contract for 'Harmony of the Seas’

Solarglide has been awarded the prestigious contract to manufacture and supply 53 SG GLIDER solar screens to the world’s largest cruise ship ‘Harmony of the Seas’. The SG GLIDER solar screens are now installed on the bridge, and although passengers will rarely see them they will be an essential navigational aid for the crew, ensuring clear visibility and protection from solar glare. 

Reducing Solar Glare and Heat

Solarglide SG GLIDER solar screens help to reduce glare by up to 93%, reject up to 83% of the sun's energy and virtually eliminate UV radiation. SG GLIDER solar screens comply with SOLAS regulations for bridge navigational safety and come with a seven year warranty.

Aiding Safe Navigation

Costing over 800 million to build, Harmony of the Seas (a Royal Caribbean vessel) weighs 227,000 tons, and is a quarter of a mile in length. It began its maiden voyage in May 2016 from Southampton UK, and will carry over 6,000 passengers to destinations around the world. As well as having 16 restaurants and cafes on board, the vessel also houses the world’s tallest water slide at sea.
