Corrosion Can Ruin Your Gasoline Engine

Ethanol can cause corrosion to certain marine engine components unless protected with a corrosion inhibitor

Ethanol blended gasoline is acceptable in most applications such as automotive and other lighter duty applications. Unfortunately it can be the root of many problems that can cause big and expensive problems with marine gasoline engines if not treated with an ethanol gasoline treatment. Fuel stability and phase separation are well known documented problems, however corrosion of internal engine components may be the most serious problem caused by ethanol blended gasoline.

Water and metal don’t like each other! Since E10 (10% ethanol and 90% gasoline) can hold up to 25 times more water than pure gasoline, this huge amount of suspended water in E10 can cause corrosion of certain engine and fuel system components unless protected by fuel additives that contain a corrosion inhibitor such as ValvTect Ethanol Gasoline Treatment and ValvTect Marine Gasoline.
