METSTRADE Invites Marine Charities to Apply for DAME 2017 Funding

Certified marine-related public charities can now apply for the registration proceeds from the DAME Design Award at METSTRADE 2017.

The METSTRADE Exhibition Committee will select a charity from the entries and the donation will be presented during the Breakfast Briefing on Tuesday November 14, the first day of METSTRADE 2017.

The annual DAME Award is the most prestigious recognition of innovation in product design in the leisure marine industry. The Show organiser, RAI Amsterdam decided several years ago to hand the proceeds of the award registration to a good cause on alternate years, the award being given to the charity AMREF Flying Doctors on even years.

The average donation has been €18,000 each year, and application is now open to all certified marine-related public charities until 30 April 30. The winnng recipient will be announced mid-May.

“The DAME Award is the best possible platform to launch new products and bring them to the attention of the global marine industry and media,” says Irene Dros, maritime domain manager at RAI Amsterdam.

“Winners and nominees can count on significant media coverage and, by supporting a charity with the registration proceeds, RAI Amsterdam ensures that the wider society benefits as well. The chosen charity also enjoys increased international recognition thanks to its association with the DAME and METSTRADE, which is a win-win situation for all concerned.”

METSTRADE had a fantastic year in 2016, breaking all records with an increase in attendance of 8% and a 7.5% rise in exhibitor numbers:

Building on this success, METSTRADE's Online Community has also become a hub for networking and sharing industry developments beyond the Show. Co-operation across the marine sector is the ethos upon which METSTRADE is founded, and this vibrant community provides a virtual connection that continues throughout the rest of the year.

This year METSTRADE enters its fourth decade and has evolved from a once-a-year trade show to having year-round purpose in co-creation across the industry.
