Global Services Appoints Richard Acland as CEO

CEO Global Services

Global Services, the leading marine procurement company, is delighted to announce the appointment of their new CEO, Mr Richard Acland who has worked in the marine industry for 15 years.

"I am delighted to be joining the Global Services team and to be charged with taking the business forward to the next stage of its development. As ever, our focus will be on ensuring we deliver what our customers want, where and when they want it, with a great service. We are here to make life easier for superyacht and cruise ship crews simply allowing you to focus on running the yacht/ship rather than worrying about your supply chain." said Richard.

"We are lucky to have very committed yacht owning owners of the business - who recognize the importance of the service Global delivers. As part of the SMS Group of companies they are very keen for Global to further develop the products and services provided to superyacht and commercial ship crews.”

Richard’s previous roles include as the Managing Director at B&G, Chief Operations Officer at Ancasta Group, and most recently the CEO of Green Marine. In these roles he was  involved in the performance sailing world, building some of the highest profile sailing yachts. These include VO65s for the Volvo Ocean Race, foiling AC50 catamarans for the Land Rover BAR challenge for the last America’s cup, the Wally Cento Galateia, and more.

The founder of the company, Richard Gardiner, will continue to take a keen interest in the business offering support when required in his new role of Non-Executive Director.

As CEO, Richard will oversee both the superyacht and commercial divisions of the company, spending time at both Global Headquarters in Exeter, UK, and our commercial office based in Southampton, UK. Richard will attend all the major shows of the Global calendar, including Monaco Yacht Show and Metstrade, so be sure to see him out and about!
