First Digital Logbook for Superyachts Set to Turn the Tide

A ground breaking new digital logbook solution for superyachts is taking to the high seas with a boatload of innovative features.

L.J Commercial Services, long standing leaders in the production of printed log books for superyachts, has launched the first ever cloud-based platform set to revolutionise the market for digital logbooks.

eLogbook is a modern, greener alternative to traditional paper log books, complete with a host of useful features and a user-friendly interface.

And for total peace of mind, eLogbook is also the first and only Lloyds Register certified electronic log book, compliant with all flag states and designed to MEPC.312(74) standard.

Founder of L.J Commercial Services, Liz Jackson, has over 20 years’ experience in yachting, and drew on her extensive knowledge and relationships with key industry players to develop a digital logbook fit for today’s onboard operations.

Beginning her yachting career as a stewardess, Liz founded L.J Commercial Services after spotting a gap in the market for a high-end bespoke logbook with excellent customer service and competitive pricing. More recently, with the widespread shift to digital solutions across the yachting industry, Liz and her team spent the past two years developing eLogbook to bring log books into the 21st century.

“Clients were coming to us asking for a modern alternative to traditional paper logbooks,” explains Liz. “They wanted secure, compliant data, available anytime and anywhere with real-time visibility. Our flag state compliant digital logbooks significantly reduce recording time, while improving accuracy and compliance for modern yacht management teams.

“Cyber and data security were key considerations when designing the eLogbook, and the platform features full end-to-end encryption with two-factor authentication to provide the highest level of security.”

Over 16 different modules are available within eLogbook, including Bridge, Engine Room, GMDSS, Oil Record and Garbage, offering a full flag state audit trail and historical record checking across all areas.

Chief Officer Henry Murray-Cox of MY Lemon Tree (ex-Cloud 9) said:  “We decided to make the switch to digital log books to save time, this also meant not having a number of logbooks stacked up in the bridge and ECR. We now have 1 iPad for all log books. Since our initial call and Zoom call tutorial on how to use eLogbook, the process has been very smooth. Liz and Sarah are always contactable with any questions and very open to any changes we wanted to make on the logbooks”

Adds Liz: “Superyachts are renowned for using some of the most advanced technology in the world, so there’s no reason to be using antiquated paper logbooks in the year 2022!”

eLogbook is ISO9001 certified and complies with IMO Jan 2021 Cyber Security Protocol, MARPOL and SOLAS. eLogbook also includes the Cayman Islands official log book and is fully approved by the Marshall Islands as an electronic log book provider.
