Discover Winter in Porto Montenegro

Discover Porto Montenegro this winter, the perfect cruising home for the season and the most comprehensive homeport in the Mediterranean. As the world’s first platinum-status marina, Porto Montenegro strives to continually exceed the needs of guests, captains and crew – with its idyllic Adriatic location in the UNESCO protected Bay of Kotor, proximity to three international airports and year-round sunshine and mild climate – it is the ultimate destination for winter yachting adventures.

What’s more, Porto Montenegro features a full-service marina, tax-free fuel, 24/7 yacht assist, premium customer service, complimentary black and grey water disposal, 7% marine-related tax, and an exceptional crew lifestyle, with an extensive events programme and international fashion boutiques and a vibrant dining scene.

Our recent departure from the EU means that UK citizens have forgone the automatic right to free movement, and to live and work wherever within the EU. It also has tax implications for boats; any non-EU vessel may be temporarily imported by a non-EU national for a period of up to 18 months before becoming liable to pay VAT, after which the vessel must leave the EU or pay VAT. Therefore, Montenegro provides the perfect destination to re-start the new VAT phase.

Mark Needham, partner at Superyacht Law Firm, Hannaford Turner LLP, comments: “For UK resident yacht owners who are using their yachts in Europe under the Temporary Admission regime, Montenegro is an ideal alternative to places like Gibraltar and Tunisia. As a non-EU member state, yachts can be berthed in Montenegro to leave the EU and re-start the 18-month time limit on temporary admission, particularly for yacht owners who enjoy cruising the Adriatic, the East Coast of Italy and Greek Islands.”

Exclusive Winter Discounts: Pay for five months, stay for seven

This winter, Porto Montenegro is offering a suite of special discounts on their tailor-made Premium and Platinum berthing packages, including the chance to pay for five months and stay for seven. Berthing at Porto Montenegro offers marina guests and crew a full homeport solution in one of the world’s most spectacular cruising grounds. Both berthing packages feature a full-service marina offering, 24/7 yacht assist support, access to the crew sporting and entertainment programme, whilst Platinum berthing packages benefit from additional perks including prime spots in the heart of the marina. The 450 marina berths are complemented by an extensive range of yacht services and amenities – one of the many reasons why the superyacht marina is regarded as one of the best in Europe and recently won the prestigious ‘Best Superyacht Marina’ award at ACREW’s Superyacht Business Awards, and will be hosting the awards in October 2022.

The Ultimate Crew Club Calender: From Skiing to Winter Sailing

The Crew Club is a unique marina community that is complimentary for all crew residing in the marina. It brings together crew and marina clients all-year round through a range of seasonal events and activities. From sports tournaments to parties and jetty-side BBQs, each event is designed to bond crew mates but also to meet other people living and working in Porto Montenegro. Winters in Montenegro mean getaways to the north, where crew can enjoy skiing, snowboarding and the freshly powdered Montenegrin slopes – crew members are also given the opportunity to enjoy weekends at Porto Montenegro’s ski chalet in Kolasin, where they can relax in the mountains and have some time off their boats. The Porto Montenegro Crew Club also recently expanded on the extensive activities calendar and now host the Superyacht Winter Games, every February, where over the course of two weekends, members can tour from the north to the south of Montenegro testing their sporting and teambuilding skills in the picturesque outdoor terrain.
