The first of The Crew Coach’s annual pre-season Free Talks for New Crew got off to a brilliant start in Antibes this week, with prospective new crew queuing around the block to gain entry to this popular event at The Quays Irish Bar on Tuesday.

Opening an hour early just for the talk, the Quays was full to bursting with 73 aspiring new crew eager to learn what they should expect from a yachting career and soaking up Alison Rentoul’s specialist advice on how to break into this select industry.

Titled "The Truth About Yahchting and How To Get Hired", the talks are held weekly and give industry joiners essential tips on job-hunting strategy and career planning, as well as realistic information about life living and working onboard superyachts.

Alison Rentoul, a professional performance coach and career guidance expert with 16 years of yachting experience, is extremely well placed to help new crew answer their questions, from what to wear while dockwalking to what to expect when they join their first yacht.

“I’m thrilled to see so many smart new crew taking advantage of this excellent opportunity to improve their chances of being hired by increasing their industry knowledge and understanding." says Alson. "I love giving them the insights they need to gain the edge over their competition, and after that it’s up to them to put what they’ve learnt into action!”

A masterclass is also offered after the talk for a maximum of 10 participants who wish to learn more about how to optimize their CV for yachting and to receive a personalised job-hunting strategy that will work for them.

Masterclass attendee Emily Cleland found the additional information extremely helpful; “Alison is a very approachable and goes the extra mile to help you get the very best you can out of your CV. I highly recommend investing in attending the masterclass, you will not regret it.”
