Glossy Bay Marina Set to boost Caribbean Yacht Charters

The opening of Glossy Bay Marina in St Vincent & the Grenadines is set to create a new yachting hub for the Caribbean. Phase one officially opened on 10 April 2017 on the island of Canouan signalling the first superyacht marina in the eastern and southern Caribbean to offer 125 berths including 24 for superyachts, six of which can accomodate yachts up to 100m.

At Glossy Bay Marina the high-end experience continues ashore with exclusive accommodation and resort restaurants at Pink Sands Club, Canouan Estate Villas & Residences and the Tamarind Beach Hotel. The re-imagining of Canouan Island has been largely funded by Canouan Resorts Development led by Antonio Saladino and Glossy Bay Construction's Irish financier, Dermot Desmond, of Sandy Lane fame.

Now open for yacht charters in the Caribbean, the construction of the remaining stages of the project continues. Marina berths are forecast to be in high demand, especially when construction is complete for the marina plaza, shops, apartments, a bar, restaurant, gym and yacht club with meeting facilities. There are also plans to create a lush botanic garden.

The marina offers dockside fuelling hydrants, a fuel station, a waste water treatment plant connected to vacuum pumping facilities on the docks, remotely metered electricity and water, high speed broadband Internet connections and a beach club called Shenanigans, the venue for the opening party.

Yacht charters in Canouan & the Grenadines

After the withdrawal of a Trump casino project and the Canouan Island Raffles Resort in previous years, investors are determined to make Canouan Island the next luxury yacht charter hotspot - an accolade often attributed to Mustique, St Lucia, St Barts and Barbados.

Founder of 212 Yachts, Jenny Caird, says,

"The opening of Glossy Bay Marina on Canouan Island is exciting for us because there is now a new gateway for luxury yacht charters in and around the Grenadine Islands and greater Caribbean. Canouan is a small island with natural beauty that rivals other better-known charter locations so we are looking forward to the forthcoming developments and growth in our Caribbean yacht charters."
