Infinite SIMs - Disrupting Superyacht Connectivity?

Like everything we do at the YOT Store, we disrupt the yachting industry norms. Currently, nearly all SIM card suppliers are selling data by the GB, which in today's world is extremely expensive, you have no control over your expenditure and you never know how much your bill will be - it's just such an old school way of operating.

We realised something had to change, so we set out to simplify the new normal with a no-nonsense, stress-free data solution where there are genuinely no limits. It took us a while to negotiate a great deal with a provider who wanted to innovate and be highly competitive, but we achieved it and we can now pass on giant savings to our clients, both existing and new.

Who wants to be limited in today's world? With the likes of Zoom and Microsoft Teams keeping the world together, people are consuming more data that ever.

We chose the name 'Infinite SIM' because the data is truly unlimited yet the cost is considerably lower than most of the alternatives currently available to yachts. There are no hidden costs either, and you don't have to waste your time logging into portals to check your usage.

How many different types of SIM card do you offer?

We wanted to simplify the SIM card process, so we have only one option on the Infinite Data plan, which is a rolling month-to-month plan.

The price is €599 per month and the data is unlimited.

Which countries are covered by the unlimited data SIM?

All European countries are included except Montenegro, which has different rules and regulations to the rest of the Mediterranean countries. Anybody in the yachting industry will know about this particular country being an issue! We have local contacts where we can assist the vessel there too.

The sim also covers the USA, French Caribbean, and Turkey.

However, to avoid any nasty surprises you cruise outside the specified roaming zone, we can log in to the yacht's router remotely and block usage in those countries.

What are the benefits of the SIM?

Not only are our SIM cards substantially less expensive than most, they work very well for yachts based in Europe which don't travel too much further, or St Maarten, as the French Caribbean is included in the plan. We also offer great flexibility as there are many yachts that don't want to be tied into a 12-month contract.

Our plan appeals to all different types of vessel which operate in different ways and have different requirements from their SIM packages.

Is the Infinity SIM truly unlimited?

Yes, that's why we called it the Infinite range. Typically when a consumer-grade SIM is sold as 'unlimited' there is a 'fair usage policy' (FUP) to protect the network from being abused and saturated with users. Once you reach the FUP's download threshold your service is likely to be severely compromised. Our business-grade SIMs have higher priority and there is no FUP in place, so data is genuinely infinite.

What is the data speeds with the SIM?

We were very particular, we wanted to offer SIMS which are unsteered, which means they are not tied to a specific network while roaming. Our Infinite SIMS will automatically connect or switch to the strongest signal available, picking up the best carrier in each location.

Obviously this depends on the location and the stability of the local cellular network. However, the speed will vary from location to location, as there are multiple things to consider. For instance, how advanced the country's cellular network is, how close the vessel is to the nearest cell tower and how congested the network is in the local area.

How will the yacht be billed?

We will send you an invoice, which you can pay by bank transfer or via our smart payment gateway via all major credit and debit cards.

Are there any upfront deposits taken for this service as with other providers?

No, we do not take an upfront deposit on our service as we've always thought it strange to do so and we don't believe in holding onto our customers' money.

Are there any shipping costs involved for the delivery of the SIM cards?

No, we ship our Infinite SIMS worldwide to your preferred address.

Are there any other hidden fees with this service?

There is a €50 activation fee which will be added to the first month of service. If the service is used to roam within the selected 40 countries, there will be no added fees. Our certified Pepwave engineers can remotely login to your Pepwave or guide you to allow the Pepwave to roam only  in selected countries. It's important to know that if you roam outside of these 40 countries you will be subject to international roaming surcharges - please see our T&C's for further information.

Do you offer support for clients with any connectivity issues?

These SIMS rarely go wrong but, in the rare event that they do, you can call or email us directly, and we will attempt to resolve the issue remotely. We issue all of our clients a checklist for things to check to help guide them through any connection issues; however, we are always at the end of the phone or email.

If the issue is related to the service, then we have a direct line to the cellular network for troubleshooting any problems. If the issue is related to the infrastructure on board, our certified Peplink engineers can troubleshoot and help to get your network back online. As Peplink Gold partners and Poynting Antennas resellers, we also have the market-leading hardware available if you want to upgrade.

Why choose the YOT Store Infinite SIMs?

Connectivity truly is in our blood, and we are striving to make a difference by keeping it simple with no limits, easy payment structures and top notch support so you can always rely on us being on the end of a phone when you need it.
