Going to FLIBS? Be prepared with this app from Show Management, the organisers of boat shows in Miami, Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and St Petersburg. This app is specifically designed for visitors of the show, to help them effectively plan and navigate the vast range of yachts and events.
MyBoatShow is the official events app for The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), The St. Petersburg Power & Sailboat Show, The Yacht and Brokerage Show in Miami Beach (YBS) and The Palm Beach International Boat Show.
The app launches by allowing you to choose which event you’re attending. After selecting Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, it presents you with a menu. This is where you’ll find the most basic info: description, opening times, tickets and transport. The top button however, takes you to the most handy features: this is where you can search boats and exhibitors or browse a map of the event, or see a street map (courtesy of google). The additional options give you detailed information on seminars, transport, where to eat, find a toilet, or get first aid.
The boat search is a really handy tool, it’s all very well using an AIS app, but the location accuracy isn’t accurate to the exact berth. With this search you can search for the boats and yachts by size range, manufacturer and type, including their location at the show. So if you are looking to charter or buy, or have been invited to an event on board, you’ll find it much easier.
The same goes for the exhibitors search - search for vendors of yachting, sailing and marine products including their booth locations. With location information in the palm of your hand you can effectively plan your route, any meetings and never be lost. To fully utilise these search functions, the app provides an interactive map. It’s well designed and easy to use, pinpointing key locations that you can open and view in more detail. (This saves you lugging around 10 different paper maps).
The seminars section actually covers many more events than just ‘seminars’ with information available on the Boat Show Film Festival, Kids Fishing School and Marine Art to name a few. It also gives event costs and times, and links to sites for further info.
A useful feature at a busy boat show is the ‘favourites’ section. You can favourite powerboats, sailing boats, superyachts or other marine products or clients which are saved into your list for future reference. This could be used to compile an easy-access list to visit, or follow up with after the show.
The app has links to Facebook and Twitter and to Show Management’s YouTube Channel showing various boat show videos - keep an eye on this during and after the show for live info and summaries. MyBoatShow also includes an announcements system to provide important updates and news during the shows along with any changes to the bus schedules at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show or the busses traveling between the Yacht and Brokerage Show and the Miami Boat Show.
