With the yearly influx of new crew beginning to flood into Antibes, we wanted to give you the lowdown on all of the crew houses available. The most well-known crew houses in Antibes include The Crew Grapevine, The Crewhouse, The Glamorgan, Debbies Crew House and Amma’s Crew House. We''ve compiled a guide  to help newbies decide which one is right for them.

The Crew Grapevine:

The Crew Grapevine is arguably the most popular, but even with its portside and seaside houses in Vieille Antibes there’s usually a long wait list for a space. The two large private town houses in the centre of old Antibes are within 100m of the port and between crew agencies and training schools. The owners,Jason and Jen, pride themselves on really helping their guests as much as possible to find their feet in the industry. Included in the price of your stay is a seminar on the yachting industry, giving their professional insights to new crew.

Locations:

"Portside" is located minutes from the port at 16 Rue de la Baume,

"Seaside" is located minutes from the port and right beside old Antibes’ bustling covered markets and on one of Antibes' most beautiful streets, at  25 Rue du Bas Castelet.

Utilities:

Portside is a 200m2 six bedroom town house built in 1604 (last renovated 2009), complete with lounge, dining, laundry and office areas. It has climate control, Wi-Fi throughout and features a rooftop terrace (complete with BBQ). Bedrooms are twin, triple and quad share and all have ensuite bathrooms. Seaside (last renovated 2011), is complete with  study library and office, lounge, dining and kitchen areas, and a rooftop terrace over looking the Mediterranean. Bedrooms are all triple with private en-suite bathrooms. Complete with laundry, climate control and Wi-Fi throughout.

Reviews: Find the trip advisor for the crew grapevine here.

Prices:
March to October (inclusive) €225 per week
November to February (inclusive) €156 per week (full week)
€50 deposit during check-in, this is returned to you upon completion of check-out.

Summary: Although it is the most expensive of the crew houses, if you can afford it, it may be worth spending the little extra for the guidance you get here. Both houses are centrally located and well equipped but it’s the help to find a job that makes the Grapevine stand out.

The Crewhouse:

There are three properties under the Crewhouse name, the original “The Crewhouse” is currently being renovated. “The Townhouse” was renovated in 2013 and “The Workstation” is open to anyone, no matter where you stay.

Locations:

“The Crewhouse” is situated on Avenue Saint Roch. When you exit the train station, there is a road directly opposite: Avenue de la Libération. Go down this road to the roundabout at the bottom. Take the 2nd street on the right.

“The Townhouse” is only 200m from “The Crewhouse” and just as close from the port, crew agencies and training schools (Bluewater is a 3mn walk).

Utilities:

Under new management since 2008, The Crewhouse includes six bedrooms with ensuite bathroom, the Man Cave, a large kitchen with dining area, a lounge with Sky TV and a computer area. All these open onto an interior courtyard where The Crewhouse residents meet. The Crewhouse has reversible air-conditioning and provides bed linen, towels, laundry facilities and Wi-Fi for free.

The Townhouse provides a large modern kitchen with dining area. This kitchen opens onto a private and quiet courtyard with garden furniture and loungers on one side, and on the other side is the lounge with comfortable sofas, Sky TV, and an office area with desktop. On the first floor, The Townhouse offers four large bedrooms, two twins and two triples with single beds and private bathrooms. Like The Crewhouse, you get Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and washing machine for free.

Workstation is open to everybody. Whether you stay in the Crew Grapevine, the Glamorgan, Debbie's Crewhouse or anywhere else, you are welcome into the Workstation to print your CVs on 100g paper. You can also come to use a computer or scan your documents, references, etc. Workstation is also the place to buy your telephone top-up and store your bag on a daily or monthly basis. You will be able to check the boards for job offers and even leave your CV in the trays available to people looking for crew. For guests, Workstation is also the reception where they check-in and check-out, and book their transfer to the airport.

Debbie’s CrewHouse:

Location: Five minutes by train from Antibes station, and 20 minutes by train from Nice. It’s a little further out of town than the others but has a pool, outdoor tables, BBQ, spacious lounge and kitchen.

Utilities:

Free Wi-Fi and printing, open fire, a gated, secure yard (monitored by CCTV), and no more than two people per room. Each room has a safe, air-conditioning, and linen and laundry facilities are available free of charge. There are self-contained studios available for couples too. Across the road you’ll find banking facilities, as well as a small supermarket, French bakery, pharmacy and tabac.

Reviews: Tripadvisor reviews here

Prices:
30 per night and €200 per week with a minimum 3 night stay.

Summary: This one is further away, but easily accessible by public transport. Probably not the best for those who like to stay out a little later, as public transport in the region doesn’t run particularly late. At €200 pw it’s not the cheapest but promises “more bang for your buck”.
