The Cannes Régates Royales is the final leg of the Panerai Trophy which began in April. This year's 38th edition embodies a unique mix of elegance and stiff competition, reuniting modern and classic sail racers in the Bay of La Napoule from 18 to 25 September.

Moored along the quai Laubeuf, just opposite the famous Palais des Festivals,  over fifty Dragons and an armada of 80 classic yachts will be lined up and ready for battle. Crews come from all over the world to race against superstars like the 55m Elena, Aschanti, Cambria, Hallowe’en, Moonbeam of Fife, Puritan, Naema and Moonbeam IV, alongside former Americas' Cup racers including the French 12m France attending for the first time since her launch in 1969.

In total there will be over 20 centenarians at this year's event, including Chinook and Rowdy, designed by Nathanaël Herreshoff exactly one century ago. Others include Windhover, Viola, Veronique, Spartan, Phoebius, Oriole, Nin, Nan of Fife, Morwenna, Lulu, Kelpie, Eva and Marigold, the oldest classic entrant to the Régates Royales designed by Charles Nicholson in 1892.

This 38th edition of the Régates Royales – Trophée Panerai is organised by the Yacht Club of Cannes, under the patronage of the Yacht Club of France, the CIM and the French Sailing Federation (FFV). The race benefits from the continued support of the city of Cannes, an essential partner of the organisation and of Panerai, title sponsor of the event.

Jacques Flori, President of the Yacht Club de Cannes, said,

"Because the Régates Royales are real races, organized by passionate volunteers to welcome sailors who come to Cannes to fight to the finish. It is enough to watch the battles on the starting lines to understand how much competition is there out on the water. From start to finish, and at mark roundings, the crews are focused and concentrated, no matter the size of age of their boats. To make things even more interesting, our Principal Race Officer, Jérome Nutte and his team are always designing new and exciting race courses. Every day, weather permitting, we will try to choose the longest one, enabling the crews to enjoy the stunning bay and to allow spectators to watch a unique show."
